This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features.

The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game.

Many of the concerns brought up about the page should now be addressed, so please take another look and let us know what you think!

Change Notes

"Recently Updated Addons" module renamed to "New & Updated Addons".

Two new links added to "New & Updated Addons" module: "see new" and "see updated".

"see new" will take you to a page that displays all of the new Addons on Curse.

"see updated" will take you to a page that displays all of the updated Addons on Curse.

Both of these pages are now properly sorted with the most recent update appearing at the top.

Compilations currently display on the "New Addons" page; we're weighing the benefits versus the detrimental effect this has and will make a decision on them soon.

"New & Updated Addons" and "Your Favorite Updates" now display the date of their update, rather than download count.

We will continue to make changes to this page and others based on feedback, as we want to make sure everyone visiting the website has the best experience when downloading their Addons. If you have any feedback, please let us know in this thread.

This is not only a visual improvement, to bring the page in-line with changes made in November to our portal pages, but also to make everything more easily accessible.

In addition to this, we've added several very cool new features to the AddOns page, which we think will be extremely useful not only for new players, but veterans as well. Of course, it's not always about adding new features -- we've also brought back a heavily requested set of categories.

Class Categories Are Back On Curse

You heard right -- Class Categories have returned to Curse.com. Gone are the days of having to use the website's search functionality if you want to locate your favorite Rogue AddOns -- you can now simply click the "Rogue" class icon on the AddOn page to be directed to everything Rogue. This goes for all other classes, too.

Class Category Pages: Other AddOns To Try

Want to know what other Druids are using, aside from class-specific AddOns? No problem -- we've introduced a new module that will tell you exactly that. Is Omen Threat Meter popular among Mages? What about Auctioneer for Shaman? This module will tell you what the most popular AddOns are for each class.

Categories Jump Into the Spotlight

The category section was very lonely all by itself over in the left corner, so we've fixed that. You'll find everything you need in the middle of the page, and we've even created special icons for the more popular categories, so not only can you tell what they are from text, but also simply looking at the icon!

Recommended AddOns

Are you new to World of Warcraft, or modifying your interface? We're here to help, and this new feature module should do just that. We've set up a list of some of the more popular AddOns that we'd recommend a new player take advantage of.

This is in effect for class categories as well, so if you want some recommendations for your new Priest, then you can find them easily by jumping over to the Priest category.

Movers & Shakers

While we have "Most Downloaded" on the page, we also wanted to give some attention to those AddOns that are starting to ramp up in popularity, so that you don't miss out on something extremely cool. With that in mind, we've introduced this new module.

Movers & Shakers will compare download counts between various days, and display the 5 most substantial increases in downloads, with the percentage the AddOn has increased, and of course, sorted in a top-5 list.

AddOn Authors: This is for you -- multiple categories per-AddOn

This is something we've wanted to do for a few months now, and we felt this improvement to the AddOn page was the best time to introduce it. Now you can assign multiple categories to an AddOn, ensuring your AddOn won't go unnoticed!

If you've got a cool Warrior Action Bar tailored for PvP, you can now assign it the following categories: Warrior, PvP, and of course, Action Bars.

Coming soon: AddOn Reviews

We kicked this off with our review of QuestHelper -- in our first Curse Word newsletter issue -- and were very happy with the way it turned out. This Review system will be very similar to what you've seen on other websites for games, but completely tailored to World of Warcraft AddOns.

We're very excited to hear everyone's feedback on this new-look page, so please don't be shy -- let us know what you think in this forum thread!

Zootfizzle wrote:

Hey folks!

With patch 2.3.2 we've made some changes to help minimize unintentional propagation of taint. Since these changes resolved many of the issues presented in this thread's predecessor, we're starting a new one to track issues that have arisen with this patch.

If you get a message that states an "Interface action failed because of an AddOn", it means that an AddOn interfered with the Blizzard UI in some way.

PLEASE CHECK FOR AN UPDATED ADDON, AS YOUR PROBLEM MAY ALREADY BE RESOLVED!

If it still happens, you can diagnose what's going on and let the author know...

To diagnose this, enter the following into chat "/console taintLog 1" and restart the game and try to reproduce it. If you reproduce it, you can quit the game and search through the file Logs\taint.log for the word "blocked". Once you have done this you can turn off logging by entering the following into chat "/console taintLog 0".

Please use this thread to post links to your taint.log file if you get this message.

You'll only get the "blocked" messages in combat, so the easiest way to test this is to go to a low level zone and let a weak creature attack you while you do things involving targeting, group changes, pet changes, etc.

Remember, taint by itself is fine, it only becomes a problem if it results in a "blocked" message.

The previous post can be found here:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=2518903044&sid=1...

Thanks!

--Zootfizzle

On a slightly related note, we've updated the version numbers here on Curse to coincide with the WoW patch today, so you can now flag your AddOn as compatible with 2.3.2.

This time the culprits have struck WoWinterface, but thankfully this issue was taken care of fairly quickly on their end. Slouken posted a warning about the issue and Cairenn -- the WoWI Administrator -- created a thread, alerting everyone of the known file versions that are trojans. She's also provided a great recap of steps to take if you've been infected by this trojan, so please be sure to take a look at the thread -- especially if you use auto updater programs to download your AddOns from your favorite websites.

We'd like to echo what Slouken says in his post: do not download an AddOn package that contains an executable file of any type; if you absolutely must, be sure the source is trusted beforehand.

In response to this, we here at Curse are going to be putting our executable acceptance on lockdown temporarily until this situation is under better control. We apologize in advance for any delays this places on everyone's packages being available on the website, but ensuring the safety of players who visit Curse is our top priority when it comes to executable files.

Remember, though, that these are only a few of the thousands of different AddOns here at Curse. Each week, we'll be looking at those AddOns that will help enhance your play experience; whether you enjoy Player versus Player combat, Raiding, Trade Skills, or playing the Auction House - Curse has something for you.

Popular AddOn: Deadly Boss Mods

Deadly Boss Mods, formerly known as La Vendetta Boss Mods, is exactly what the name implies.

It's a fully featured set of boss mods, for most every raid encounter in the game, with more being added as encounters are discovered. Some mods can very advanced features - one given is the Loatheb mod - which has a healer monitor as part of the package.

Deadly Boss Mods is 100% stand-alone, requiring no additional libraries or dependencies, as well as having very accurate timers due to the AddOn's synchronization system.

All boss mods and the GUI are Load on Demand - so there's no memory usage when the AddOns aren't open.

Additionally, Deadly Boss Mods has special effects that can occur on-screen to draw your attention during critical events, four bar designs to choose from, and options to create custom timers, and increase the range of your combat log.

These are just a handful of the many features this AddOn offers to raiders, so if you're looking for helpful boss mods to tackle some of the most challenging content in the game, head over to the Deadly Boss Mods page and check it out.

Popular AddOn:

EquipCompare gives you the ability to compare an item you're viewing with what you have equiped. It places your equipped item(s) in a tooltip to the left of the item you're browsing for, allowing you to see the stats of all related items in question.

This feature works for the Auction House, vendors, bags, the loot window, and the reward page of quests. There is also a comparison tooltip created when clicking on item links in chat.

If you're looking for a way to compare items at a glance, without having to open your character inventory, then is something you should definitely check out.

Popular AddOn: Bagnon

Bagnon is a group of addons that improve the way you manage your inventory.

Bagnon: Displays your inventory and bank(including its bags) in single frames, rather than a unique frame for each bag.

Bagnon_Forever: An optional AddOn that allows you to view the inventory and bank of your other characters.

Bagnon_Options: A load on demand options window, allowing you to change many of the options in the Bagnon AddOns.

Bagnon has many features, giving you a single, customizable inventory window, as well as one for your bank, with color-coded item slots and borders, based on the quality of the item.

Ammo and Soul Bag item slots have their own special color - yellow - with Profession bags being green, and Key Ring slots colored orange.

If you're tired of having to dig through all of your bags, and want an all-in-one display for your inventory, Bagnon is an excellent choice.

Popular AddOn: Bartender3

> Bartender3 is an Ace2 AddOn to provide more flexibility and functionality to the Action Buttons. It is NOT based on Bartender2, but a total rewrite. Although the functionality is basically the same, Bartender3 was explicitly designed for WoW 2.0

Bartender3 has many features, supporting nearly everything from its predecessor, Bartender2, as well as some newly added features for this version.

One of the features is full style control, giving you the ability to fully control the alpha levels, scale, and padding of your action bars. You can also split the bars up into individual rows, allowing further customization on the look of your bars, as well as being able to set the number of buttons on each bar.

Additionally, you can set every action bar up to dynamically swap to a new page based on the stance or form you're in(even Stealth), as well as being able to swap to new pages by pressing a pre-determined modifier key such as shift, ctrl, or alt.

There's also integrated cooldown count, showing you the time left on your action bar buttons for each ability, and a range indicator, which shades your buttons red when your target isn't in range.

Popular AddOn: CT_MailMod

CT_MailMod, made by the creators of CTMod, is a fully featured Mailbox AddOn.

There is a Mass Mailing option, which allows you to send up to 21 items or stacks of items to the same person with one click. If you don't input a subject, CT_MailMod will automatically create a subject for each item with the item name and its quantity being mailed. The total cost for all mails being sent is calculated in the upper right of the window, and a confirmation box is displayed when you click the send button to make sure you know how much you're spending on the mail.

Another nice feature of CT_MailMod is the Alt+Click functionality, allowing you to automatically add items to normal and mass mail by alt-clicking them. This feature also works on trade windows, so no need to click and drag items to the trade window ever again!

CT_MailMod also adds the ability to auto-fill guildmate's names, where the normal mailbox window only allows names of those on your friend's list.

There is also a forward button, to forward mail to other players, and checkboxes to the left, so you can select which mails you'd like to open. Once checked, you can hit the Open Selected button at the top of the screen to open multiple mails with one click. Lastly, there is an Open All button that will open all mail in your mailbox; this feature is smart and will skip over mail that only contains messages or mail that contains unique items.

Popular AddOn: SimpleCombatLog

SimpleCombatLog, an Ace2 mod, is a chat window mod that replaces the default combat logs with shorter, colored text.

There are many customizable options in SimpleCombatLog, allowing you to set filters based on event, message type, and unitid. You can also set the colors of each spell element, unitid, etc.

Another feature is the ability to customize the display formatting of the combat logs on your screen, as well as adding a watch list - allowing you to watch for specific names and skills in the combat logs. The Watch List sets these at a higher priority than the Filters, so even if something is filtered, it will still show up if the Watch List is set to look for it.

AddOn Showcase Weekly - March 20th Edition

In the Tuesday, March 20th edition of the Curse AddOn Showcase, we look at two popular AddOns - Natur EnemyCastBar, and Auctioneer - as well as an extremely useful class-specific AddOn, FloTotemBar.

Popular AddOn: Natur EnemyCastBar

Natur EnemyCastBar is an AddOn that displays a casting bar for your target, so that you can see the spell they're casting, and the time left on the cast. There are some added features, however, such as tracking of short duration buffs on your target; Renew, Rejuvination, Blessing of Freedom, etc. There's also an option to show cooldowns of abilities used by your target, which will create a new bar when your target(NPC or Player) uses an ability, that displays the time left until they can use that ability again.

On top of all that, you can also select whether you want these options to display even without a target, as well as the ability to display diminishing returns on your crowd control effects per-player.

Natur EnemyCastBar is an extremely powerful AddOn, and is highly recommended for all players, whether using it for PvP or PvE.

Popular AddOn: Auctioneer

Auctioneer is an Auction House AddOn that creates a database, based on data collected by you, to help you track auction prices on your server's Auction House. It has many features which allow you to place multiple auctions at once, and allows you to track your listing prices per-item/per-quantity.

There are also features which allow you to track the prices of recent auctions of items you're looking for, to help you find the best prices available. On top of all of that, there's also an in-game database that will add vendor buy/sell value, stack size, and what professions use those items to the tooltip of the item.

If you're looking for an Auction House AddOn to help you get the most out of your auctioning experience, Auctioneer is highly recommended.

Hunter and Shaman AddOn: FloTotemBar

FloTotemBar is a hotbar AddOn that creates new bars, specifically designed for your totem spells(for Shaman) or your trap spells(for Hunters). Each time you learn a new totem or trap spell, it's automatically added to its bar. For Shaman, there is a bar for each element type: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. For Hunters, it's a single bar with every trap available.

Clicking on a spell on the bar will lay down the desired totem or trap, and it also tracks the life of that totem or trap by mousing over the spell - showing how much time is left - in a tooltip. There are options to bind keys to the bars as well, and the bars are fully moveable with a lock/unlock slash command. Additionally, you can drag the totem/trap spells around, setting up a custom order on each bar so you can place the least-used totems for your needs together while keeping the totems you use most in a group as well.

If you're a Shaman or Hunter(or if you have one of both!) and you've been looking for a way to more easily track your totems/traps; or if you just want something that categorizes them automatically, then this is an AddOn worth checking out.

AddOn Showcase Weekly - March 12th Edition

In the Monday, March 12th edition of the Curse AddOn Showcase, we look at two popular AddOns - AtlasLoot Enhanced, and KLHThreatmeter - as well as an up-and-coming AddOn, Advanced Trade Skill Window.

Popular AddOn: AtlasLoot Enhanced

AtlasLoot Enhanced is a UI AddOn for the popular Atlas AddOn. AtlasLoot Enhanced adds detailed loot information to the Atlas interface. You can browse instances and view what loot drops where, in an easily clickable window.

AtlasLoot Enhanced also offers enhanced tooltips through use of various tooltip AddOns, in conjunction with the Atlas interface. You can also view items in the Dressing Room directly, by shift-clicking on the item's link in the AtlasLoot Enhanced interface. AtlasLoot Enhanced also allows you to add in DKP values to items and browse them in its interface. If you're looking for an excellent plugin for the Atlas AddOn, then look no further, because this is the AddOn for you!

Popular AddOn: KLHThreatmeter

KLHThreatmeter works similarly to a damage meter AddOn. Its use is to gauge the threat generation of everyone in the raid(though only users of KLHThreatmeter are displayed), to better allow players to manage their threat levels comparatively with the tank. The AddOn uses many sources to display your threat: talents, item bonuses(including set bonuses), and buffs are all checked to determine your overall threat generation.

There is also a "Master Target" option, which allows you to "lock on" everyone's list to a specific creature; very useful for encounters where multiple targets are involved. KLHThreatmeter opperates under both Graphical and Command Line interfaces, so setting it up is a breeze, whether you're a novice or an expert. If you're looking for an AddOn to assist in making your raiding smoother - especially on encounters where tank switching, or aggro is a sensitive matter - then KLHThreatmeter is what you're looking for.

Up-and-coming AddOn: Advanced Trade Skill Window

Ever thought that the basic Trade Skill Window was lacking something? That the sorting was clunky? Then it's time to take a look at Advanced Trade Skill Window. This AddOn completely revamps the Trade Skill Window - increasing its size and adding many features. You can select several different types of sorting: by Type, Group, or Difficulty. Advanced Trade Skill Window even allows you to create custom groups - adding whatever recipes you like - allowing you to get rid of the recipes that aren't very useful to you.

There is also a filter function: simply type something into the filter text-box and Advanced Trade Skill Window automatically hides any recipes that do not contain the text you supplied for the filter.

Additionally, there are many features of Advanced Trade Skill Window that make using the Trade Skill Window a more comfortable experience. Production queues allow you to select multiple recipes to produce items; one click is all it takes to create any quantity of a number of recipes using this queue system. There are many other features in the Advanced Trade Skill Window, but rest assured if you're an avid tradeskiller, this AddOn is a must-have.

The survey itself will still be up if you still want to contribute. The WuFoo results page will automatically update but the report website wont. You can still get there till the end of the month:

With that in mind, each Monday will be the Curse AddOn Showcase; a news update devoted to letting potential AddOn users know about some of the more popular - and even some of the lesser known - AddOns available on Curse. Perhaps your AddOn is a sleeper hit; something that has its niche feature it offers, but people haven't quite noticed it yet, just waiting to become the next juggernaught among the likes of Scrolling Combat Text, Decursive, or DamageMeters.

Without further ado, let's take a look at some of the AddOns that can make your gaming experience better.

Popular AddOn: X-Perl Unitframes

First on the list is a very high-rated AddOn; X-Perl Unitframes - a modified version of Nymbia's Perl Unitframes - and a whole lot more. As you can see from the link, there are many added features over the original Perl Unitframes. If you're using the default unitframes and want something different; something to spice up your play experience, this may be the AddOn for you.

Popular Addon: Atlas

Atlas is an in-game map browser, but it's not your typical game map browser. Atlas also creates maps of instances which you can pull up and view, much the same as the normal in-game maps you can pull up by pressing 'M'. If you've always felt lost in an instance, and the mini-map alone doesn't cut it, this may be the AddOn for you.

Sleeper of the Week: TheoryCraft 2

The Sleeper of the Week for this week is TheoryCraft 2. This AddOn has multiple features; one which modifies your hotkeyed spells and abilities to account for bonus damage and healing, as well as factoring in attack power to your physical attacks. TheoryCraft 2 also lets you compare gear sets so that you can see just how much you'd gain wearing item x instead of item y. It'll also let you compare specific stats. Ever wondered how much Attack Power you'd need to gain similar benefit as you would from Critical Strike Rating? TheoryCraft 2 can tell you. If you're the kind of person that enjoys the min-max aspect of MMO's, or even if you just want the most and accurate information about your spells and abilities, and your item's statistics, this may be the AddOn for you.

http://karlkfi.wufoo.com/forms/wow-addon-author-survey/

It will look at the electronic communication methods and tools that they use and prefer when receiving feedback and bug reports from their users. When its finished it should provide an interesting report on the available tools, which is most preferred and how you can benefit from each type, not to mention some nifty demographics graphs.

Head over to the survey and take it!
