WoWDB.com Hits 2 Million User Profiles

About a year ago we started a little project some of you might know as WOWDB.com!

Originally the website was intended to be a database of all items and quests relating to WoW, then the 3.0 patch came around and we rocked your world with WoW User Profiles. Since we launched our user profiles we're proud to announce we have just hit the 2 Million mark. That's right 2 Million user profiles now exist on the WoWDB user Profiles page. If you haven't had a chance to test it out we strongly suggest you do so! In order to get your character listed on WoWDB.com you've only got to download the Curse Client and have it running while you spend some time on your character. Features that the user profiles page will display:

Character Paperdoll and Armor Info Including: Reputation, Skills, Talents, and Character Preview.

Character Comments

Quick Facts Character Tab

With all of this info readily available on our EXTREMELY fast servers I'd venture to say you're missing out if you don't have your profile uploaded yet. Here's a few screen shots of what the user profiles look like:

Talent Calculator Update: Mage, Paladin, Shaman

The official Wrath of the Lich King talent calculators have been updated!

While most of the changes are tooltip clarifications and new icons for the placeholders, there are a few bigger changes as well:

Enhancement Shaman's Maelstrom Weapon now makes any spell instant cast when stacked to 5, not just Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning or Lava Burst. New tooltip: When you critically hit with a melee weapon, you reduce the cast time of your next spell by 4/8/12/16/20%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 15 seconds. (talent location)
Retribution Paladin
- Improved Blessing of Might buffed: Increases the attack power bonus of your Blessing of Might by 10/20/30/40/50%. (talent location)
- Vindication now gives a 20% debuff for 2 talent points instead of 15% for 3. New tooltip: Gives the Paladin's damaging attacks a chance to reduce the target's attributes by 10/20% for 15 sec. (talent location)
- Pursuit of Justice reduced to 2 talent points. New tooltip: Reduces the chance you'll be hit by spells by 1/2% and increases movement and mounted movement speed by 8/15%. This does not stack with other movement speed increasing effects. (talent location)
Arcane Mage
- Arcane Impact (tier 3) changed to Spell Impact proccing off many more spells. Tooltip: Increases the critical strike chance of your Arcane Explosion, ArcaneBlast, Blast Wave, Fire Blast, Ice Lance, Cone of Cold spells by an additional 2/4/6%.
- Arcane Potency (tier 6) no longer requires 5 points in Arcane Concentration (tier 2), but 1 point in Presence of Mind.
- Student of Mind (tier 9) moved to Tier 3.
- Potent Spirit (tier 8) replaced with Mind Mastery. New tooltip: Increases spell damage by up to 5/10/15/20/25% of your total intellect.
- Netherwind Presence (tier 10) moved to Tier 9 to replace Student of Mind. The talent has also been reworked to give 6% passive haste. New tooltip: Increases your spell haste by 2/4/6%.
- Missile Barrage (tier 10) new talent to replace Netherwind Presence's instant casts with faster Arcane Missiles. Tooltip: Gives your Arcane Barrage, Fireball, Frostbolt and Frostfire Bolt spells a 3/6/9/12/15% chance to reduce the channeled duration of the next Arcane Missiles spell to 1.5 secs and fire missiles every .3 sec. (talent locations)

Wrath of the Lich King Curse Client

The Curse Client is now updated to work with Wrath of the Lich King. This is great news for players in the beta, because it means you can not only contribute content to WOWDB, but you'll also be able to help AddOn authors test their AddOns to make sure they're compatible and working with Wrath of the Lich King when it launches.

If you'd like to help out, you can download the Curse Client here; we also have a beta version of the new Curse Client available, and it's compatible with Wrath of the Lich King as well. As previously posted, all patterns from Black Temple and Hyjal (including the Scales of Sand) that are listed below will be obtainable via the Shattered Sun Offensive. You can now check out all patterns at WOWDB for better clarity. By the way, gems for these patterns will drop in Sunwell Plateau.

Greetings everyone.

I am the founder of Curse and I would like to share a few words with you today.
Yesterday, we launched our new World of Warcraft Database, www.wowdb.com. WOWDB represents 8 months of hard work from our development team, and is the product of collaboration among many World of Warcraft players.

Today I have great news. In the past 24-hours, we have already had more than 50,000 visitors. This is encouraging, because we believe that WOWDB will benefit all of us, the World of Warcraft community. As most of you know, all the major players in this market have struggled with innovation recently. We've focused on bringing that innovation back to the game database space, by creating some of the features found on WOWDB, and will continue to do so with new community-driven features each week.

Since launch, we have received more than 400 emails containing bugs, congratulations, feedback. I want to thank all of you who took the time to report the problems you see, and for offering us great ideas for new features.

We are taking care of all of them, one by one.

We designed WOWDB to be as accessible as possible to the World of Warcraft community. We have enhanced standards greatly, and added many new features that can't be found anywhere else:

More than 120,000 people are using the Curse Client right now, and contributing all the data you see on WOWDB. I'll let you guys imagine what type of infrastructure we had to build to be able to process the sheer volume of data we receive every second.

WOWDB is a great opportunity for everyone in the WoW Community. It will drive innovation that will result in a better user experience, and bring some real competition to what was once a monopoly. I have to say that I have been very impressed by how the community started right away to interact on the site. More than 10,000 of you registered today and nearly 500 comments have been posted since launch.

WOWDB.com -- a Next Generation database

The Curse.com team is excited to introduce our next major project -- WOWDB.com -- a World of Warcraft database website. We've worked over the past several months to create a unique database experience with WOWDB.com, and here's just a short list of the features included in the launch version, with many more to come in the months ahead.

3D Model previews of items and NPC's. You can even preview the item on your character! Simply click on the "Enlarge" or "Preview on Character" buttons where applicable to check the model out in 3D.
Bookmark complex filters so you don't have to enter them again, or clutter up your browser's bookmarks. Check it out -- simply click the "Bookmark this Search" button while logged in and you can save it; up to 20 bookmarks in total can exist!
Tooltip Comparison through the "Pin Item" feature. You can pin one of every slot, and that item will draw next to any tooltips on WOWDB.com -- allowing you to easily compare items. What's better is that if you've imported a character through the Armory, those items will be the default pinned item! Check it out by clicking on the "Pin this Item" button.
Wish Lists allow you to add those goal items -- whether it be a new weapon or a new piece of armor -- as well as any creatures you aspire to tame on your Hunter, and even quests you're looking to complete.
WOWDB.com Search Assistant -- a robust search helper tool that suggests items as you type in partial names, allowing you to quickly locate something even if you're not sure what the full name is. Head over to check it out!
The WOWDB.com Quest Maps are designed to give you all the information you'll ever need. NPC locations, where the quest starts, where it ends, and everything else you'll need to complete that next quest. It's even tabbed, so if the quest takes place in multiple zones, you won't miss a step! Check it out, and of course don't miss the tabbed version of the maps.
Interactive Zone Maps with advanced filtering. Having a hard time locating that Fel Iron in Terokkar? No problem; not only can you filter by minerals, but you can also get specific and learn locations of each node type, without others cluttering your view! This of course works for Herbs, Quests and NPC's as well.
- You can also edit the maps! Found an NPC or point of interest that doesn't exist on WOWDB.com yet? Click the "Edit Map" button and submit it to the WOWDB.com team!
Enhanced Talent Calculator: We've introduced everything you'll find elsewhere, and more. There are also "preset" builds available that can be commented on or rated when logged in. Finally, a way to get a discussion going about a talent build on the build page, rather than remotely!
Import your Armory Profile so that you can designate a "Main" character on WOWDB.com. A Main character introduces two unique features to users logged in; firstly you'll have your Main character's items shown in the Tooltip Comparison feature, and your character's race and gender will be used when clicking the "Preview on Character" button on items! If you can't access the page linked, login or register to get started!
