Seriously though, if you are going to throw stones, at least learn how to edit for run-on sentences and basic structural errors in your writing.

You might not want to push Darwinism too much, you may not make it to the final round yourself.

By no means am I implying that I am perfect, or not subject to bouts of ignorance or stupidity (see above) but the kind of rampant laziness and willful ignorance (redundant? hmmm) that abounds in our culture and species literally appalls me. Laziness breeds ignorance in my opinion, because if you're lazy, you don't go out of your way to combat your own ignorance.

@JewDew4 - It's absolutely your prerogative to be lazy, but I'm just saying this culture of laziness we live in and instill in our children or others' children is going to come back and bite us all in the ass one day. Besides, you're less likely to get actual help if you put questions that have been answered a million times before. =) I also could have used larger words, but wanted to make sure at least half of the people who play WoW would be able to comprehend - oops, I mean understand - it.

@nahaz83 - Darwinism does protect what survives, but do you honestly think that if we didn't coddle ignorance, stupidity and laziness that it would be such a problem in the world? Darwinism isn't responsible for laziness, stupidity and ignorance surviving, humanity is. At least in my opinion.

@JKrolja - No, it's not just apparent now, but it seems to be getting worse and worse every day. Is it the internet's fault? I see many people who hardly use the web who are unable to spell, punctuate, or even communicate. It's a cultural problem I feel.

@Indelible - Maybe I'm just unlucky enough to see the lazy ones posting on all my favorite addons; perhaps I should expand my favorites list? =)

@Sakkura - True, it doesn't reflect the average user, I'll agree to that. Doesn't change the fact it annoys the piss out of me. And sorry for making it seem like Curse was only for Americans. I suffer from the common selfishness of nationality sometimes. Or maybe I just feel other countries aren't as stupid. Either way, it's an ignorant attitude, and I apologize. =\

I might have to go get my Dic . . . how was that spelled again ?

I wont even bother to look it up .

Because I'm a lazy bastard posting lazy posts on addons , that I can't figur out with or without the information given on the page .

Can you feel it ? =)

Perhaps some, but willful ignorance is not a whole lot better than stupidity, and some of it is just stupidity. I'm tired of running into young adults in, or out of WoW that cannot do things such as algebra with small numbers ("uh... this gives 20 ap from str and 60ap. Is it better than the 75 ap one?" or just asking how much ap X strength is if they get 2 per str)

Darwin isn't slower - evolution protects what survives, not what is smart, pleasing, or necessarily "better". Stupid or ignorant survives just fine - it prospers now.

Yes, forums bring it out more (that penny arcade comic applies so well here... audience + anonymity = @#$#@#$). However, real life disappoints me in this way more often each year. I'm often asked to tutor some children who are in "advanced" high school classes, or trying to reach a certain class standing... and the work is creeping backwards to elementary school levels, at best. No wonder college is getting longer and longer... and not actually going further.

It's been like this since the start of the internet, and was probably this way before it. It just seems more apparent now that we're able to socialize so much more efficiently.

The fact that people aren't able to spell, and punctuate correctly is the evidence of ignorance, not lack of intelligence. If you truly believed people were as stupid as they typed, WoW wouldn't be nearly as fun as it is. I have plenty of people I know in real life capable of speaking, and writing properly. The case given was, if you're able to read it, why complain?

Nothing you say or do can change this, and while I'm bothered by it to, it's just something people need to adjust to. :S

As someone who deals with these, "stupid people," I'd have to say that the majority aren't stupid by any stretch of the imagination. People don't like reading pages and pages of information in order to get what they want out of the addon they have downloaded. Take a look at the guys that have put together simple-to-follow FAQs - and they are few and far between - and you will see that these stupid questions are generally not present in large numbers.

Nor did I realize stupidity was an American patent. There are certainly some politicians in my country that infringe on it a lot...

On a more serious note, the people who comment on the addon pages will more often tend to be those people who missed the obvious or did the dumb thing - the ones who got the addon to work fine the first time are less likely to post, except for simple thank yous. So the comments will not reflect the average user all that well.
