Messages for guild members going offline will once again be colored according to your guild chat color.
Updated French localizations.
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Djuice saidHi folks,
As a result of Blizzard adding in their own notes system, I am probably going to discontinue Who's That development. If there is some reason you would like me to continue development, please post here so I may consider it :)

jwhelan saidYea I don't like that the Report Spam option is replaced with Edit Note, which really makes no sense since these people are not even on your friends list...
Other than that its the best friend not system I've found so far...
Please fix this...

I was curious to know if anyone was having issues with "Report Spam" It no longer shows up. Instead it is "Edit Note"
Is there a fix for this?
Kind Regards.

yermam saidDjuice,
i'm pretty sure the length issue occurs after you try to add a friend. I made notes for all of my friends, with no length issues at all - worked great. A while later, i clicked 'add friend' accidentally, so i closed the dialogue box (didn't add anyone). but after that, any new notes i tried to make were restricted to the same length as that box, i.e. the length of a character name. the old longer ones were left intact though.
hope that helps, and thanks for the addon

Djuice saidHi BurninFingerTipz,
This issue had not been reported previously, but I will work on a fix for the weekend. Thanks for letting me know!
BrFrodo and anyone else have issues with the length of notes,
Can you tell me what resolution you're running the game in? Also, are you scaling the UI or using any addons that might? Please let me know as much information as possible so that I may determine what conditions are causing this issue.

BurninFingerTipz saidSlight issue, skimmed though the comment, but didn't see this reported.
I have this mod installed as is, straight from the compression file.
Noticed today when I right click on a player name in the general, trade, guild recruitment, yell, or said. Any rate, the "Report" option is replaced with "Edit Note".
Anything you know is a known issue, or a fix?
Thanks.

Djuice saidHey guys,
Wow I'm a little disappointed that Blizz decided to add their own notes system, but relieved at the same time. Well I still have an advantage, unless they start coloring the names of guild members who sign on and off like I do :) Thanks for letting me know Cipri.
Sublima,
I've updated the french translations with your suggestions, however I did not test them at all, so I hope for your sake they work :) As for the very last translation (Cr\195\169er des notes pour les joueurs de la liste d'amis), that will not work in the TOC file. The \195\169 is treated as plain text, so I just replaced the é with a regular old e ;\
@ellanon,
I'm very confused about your problem with the length of notes. I cannot reproduce this problem to any extent. The static popup that appears has a text box with no character limit. When you press the Enter key or click the Enter button, the text inside the box is passed to the SaveNote() function, which is what the /friendnote command does as well. I'll look further into this, but please let me know if you were adding or updating a note, what the friend's name was, etc.
Oh, and by the way, when guild members logoff, the message will once again be colored per your guild chat color. When I added localizations I accidentally broke that.
Thanks!

ellanon saidWhen I right click and use the UI to edit/add a note, I get very little space to type anything. However, if I use the console command to add a note, I can add longer notes. Aside from that, this has really helped me keep track of who is on my list! Thank you!

Djuice saidHi Sublima,
Thanks for the French translations!
Well I'm eager to release 0.8 so it works for (most of) you, so I did the unthinkable and used Google Translate for 2 of the Spanish translations. If anyone has any corrections to make on any of the translations, please let me know.

Djuice saidHey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I still need the new localizations for Spanish and any other languages you want localized. There is indeed a new list, but don't worry, I've only removed some things since they're actually already made available by Blizzard. 0.8 will be released this weekend if I get those Spanish translations! :)

Djuice saidHi Ubik,
Localization for German is complete. Thanks a lot for your contribution!
As for guild members, I am aware that this occurs, and being as there is no negative impact, I do not have plans to change it. Nothing happens because the player(s) you set notes for are not on your friends list. If and when you add them, the note(s) you previously set will appear. As for the max length, no I did not set a limit. Why not? Simply because Blizzard didn't either. If you know someone with an obnoxiously long character name, ask them to put <DND> on. You will notice that their name will have <DND> appended to it, and if long enough, it will overflow out of the frame. I think it best that you police yourselves on the length of your notes. I'm not sure I follow you on the 8 letters thing. Notes you enter with more than 8 letters are cut off at 8 letters? What resolution are you running? Are you scaling the UI? I cannot reproduce this, so please provide as much info as possible.
