About AutoProfit v4.5

AutoProfit adds a small icon to merchant frames that allows you to sell every gray item in your inventory to the vendor instantly. You can also configure it to sell certain white items too.

Trudging through 80 slots of inventory looking for vendor trash after a night of adventuring can take an annoyingly long time. AutoProfit turns what used to take several minutes of clicking and searching into a single button press.

Features

Instantly sell all your gray items to any merchant without needing to sort through your inventory looking for them. Mouse over the tooltip to see how much money you'll earn from the junk currently in your inventory.

Darkmoon Faire items are automatically ignored by AutoProfit and don't need any special configuration.

Use

Simply unzip into your World of Warcraft Addons directory.

Whenever you want to purge your inventory of gray items, visit a merchant and click on the money icon at the top right corner of the merchant frame or configure AutoProfit to automatically sell items without a button press.

Advanced Usage

/autoprofit item link
This command will add an exception to AutoProfit's logic (which is pretty simple.) If you link a gray item, AutoProfit will no longer sell that item automatically. If you add a white item, AutoProfit will sell that item. By default all gray items are sold and all white items aren't. Using this command you can override the default behavior.

To remove an item from the exceptions list, simply repeat the command.

/autoprofit list
This command will list all items currently on your exception list.

/autoprofit number
Remove an item from that location in your exception list. Use /autoprofit list to show all the items in your exceptions list and what number they are.

/autoprofit purge
Remove all items from your exception list.

/autoprofit silent
Toggle AutoProfit's sale reports on and off.

/autoprofit auto
Toggle automatic selling on and off. Turning this feature on will allow AutoProfit to sell junk items whenever you visit a merchant. You won't have to click on any buttons and the normal AutoProfit 3D treasure button will be hidden.

Installation Guide

Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
  - Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
  - WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
  - WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
  - StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
Start World of Warcraft
Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

I'm having a new problem with the Autoprofit. I haven't adjusted any of the original settings so it should sell all my greys when I click the button on the vendor window, but it's not. Atm, it's just shifting my grey items around in my bags and I have to click on each one individually to sell them...which is what this addon is supposed to do for me I thought. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix this?

This just started happening about 3-4 weeks ago I think. Other than this little issue, the mod is great. It was saving me time to search my bags to sell those pesky greys I picked up so I thank you for making this and hope you can help me fix the issue.

Yes- that's what the addon is supposed to do. For me, it started happening with the newest patch. The post by justcallmefred says that it may be fixed next patch. Lets hope so... I hate hunting through my bags for the grays. :p

That problem seems to be happening with others as well, I read that it may be a Blizz problem and it's going to be fixed in next patch.

Yeah. To explain the problem im having better. When I go to sell my grey items, and click that button, It just re - arranges the items in my bags. It says that they were sold, but werent, they were just re - arranged. I dont know why some of us are having these problems, and some arent. If you look at other peoples posts, some are having the same problems. So I deleted the addon. But I will try it again. I loved this addon. I guess ill have to try that Autoprofix your telling me about.

Basically it does the same, with for me one Xtra feature, and one feature less.

The Xtra feature is that it is possible to maintain exception lists per character, the feature it lack is the delete functions with which you drop all crap you would normally sell to vendors, in case your bags are clogged up and you won't see a vendor for a while yet.

Considered the fact there are plenty mods which make you automatically drop junk, I will stick to AutoprofitX, cuz it's a pain in the arse I if I don't have seperated exception lists.

So if the autor does consider making it work again, which apparently *is* possible, then he migbht take in consideration to add seperate exception lists me thinks.

All such automatic selling addons are currently broken. It's not a problem with AutoProfit, it's a bug in one of the underlying APIs. You can't even do the corresponding actions by hand right now. For more information, see

When that bug is fixed, AutoProfit and the others should, I would imagine, start working again with no changes needed.

In the meantime, you can stop posting the same comments over and over and over.

Saying all of the autoselling addons do not work is not true, they are NOT all broken. "GetVendored" works, although it is extreamly basic and crude.

I actually edited the version I downloaded a little bit to clean it up some such as putting it in a folder for the zip, clean up the help a bit and enable the debugging so I can see what is sold.. however it does work fine from the version hosted here. If you want something quick and dirty to keep those greys auto selling it is worth a download or as posted in these comments trying AutoProfitX which I think I am going to do.

I do hope the author of AutoProfit decides to fix it because it was one of my favorite addons. :(

This very handy addon no longer works with patch 2.3. As is said by the people from germany, it makes the proper notification in the chat window and makes the "gold was exchanged" sound, but all it does is rearrange the gray items in my bag. Please repair this addon.
