- About GroupCalendar
Group Calendar 4 important things to know
- Group Calendar 4 will not talk to any previous versions, including the betas of Group Calendar 4 itself. All guild/alliance members must upgrade before everyone will see and be able to sign up for all events again. Do not upgrade to 4.0 until your guild is ready to upgrade as a group.
- You MUST restart WoW to upgrade. Group Calendar will warn you if you try to upgrade in-game with a reloadui and will disable itself until you restart WoW.
- Events you created will still be there when you upgrade, but all events from other players will be purged. They'll begin showing up again as those players upgrade to 4.0.
- The User's Manual is no longed included in the addon and is available online instead at http://wobbleworks.com/groupcalendar/manual. It hasn't been fully updated for GC4 yet, but the majority of it is still relevant. I'll try to get it updated completely soon, but it's a low priority for now.
About Group Calendar
Group Calendar allows guilds or groups of friends to share an in-game event calendar. The guild can post raid events and members can post events for dungeons they need to do quests for. Additionally, players can provide feedback to the event's sponsor saying that they will or won't be attending an event.
Once installed Group Calendar replaces the minimap current time tooltip and sun & moon icon. This can be used to open the UI or it can be opened using the /calendar command.
For instructions on how to set up Group Calendar for your guild or for your personal use, see the User's Manual at http://wobbleworks.com/groupcalendar/manual
New in Group Calendar 4
- FEATURE: New networking code designed for better reliability and scalability
- FEATURE: Role-based signups for more flexibility in forming groups
- FEATURE: You can now edit your own events and get tradeskill cooldown messages while on another realm or faction
- FEATURE: Whisper-based UI allows players not running GC to view and sign up for events
- FEATURE: Backups (both automatic and manual) of your event data to help recover if something goes wrong
- FEATURE: Circled dates and times for events you're attending are now color-coded: yellow for pending, green for confirmed and blue for standby
- FEATURE: Event templates remember up to the last five variations on an event type (you can schedule "Karazhan Alpha" and "Karazhan Beta" and it will remember your setting preferences for both)
- FEATURE: /cal slash command added -- same as /calendar, just shorter, and /calendar still works too
- FEATURE: /cal command now shows help by default (use "/cal show" to show the GUI)
- FEATURE: New '/cal history numdays' command to set the number of days to keep events
- FEATURE: History length is stored in the auto-config data so it can be set for the entire guild at once
- FEATURE: MD5 hash protection to detect damaged event or attendance updates
- FEATURE: Date and time settings are verified by comparing clocks with other users on the network
- FEATURE: Players can now sign up for events as a standby
- FEATURE: Event titles now auto-complete
- FEATURE: Synch period is now two minutes long instead of five
- FEATURE: Database version info in About tab now shows the total number of databases known
- FEATURE: Event attendance list now shows separate totals for accepted and standby players
- FEATURE: Dungeons with a 7 day reset cycle now only show the next reset instead of the next four
- FEATURE: All localization files are UTF8 and all escape sequences have been replaced by their real characters
- FEATURE: /cal reset now resets only the current character, with a new parameter of "realm" to reset the databases for the realm
- FEATURE: Tradeskill reminder messages are smaller
- FEATURE: Brilliant Glass added to tradeskill cooldown reminders
- BUGFIX: Calendars for characters on the opposing faction will no longer be shared outside that faction
- BUGFIX: Default 12h/24h time and Sun/Mon start day can be set in localization files. Currently the German translation will use 24h and Monday by default, all others are still 12h and Sunday
- BUGFIX: Disconnecting the data channel works
- BUGFIX: Guild Rank setting works again in manual configuration
- BUGFIX: Subscribing to an event and later attempting to view the attendees list should no longer re-send the request
- BUGFIX: Pressing enter while typing an attendance comment will now send the attendance request

Froagh saidThe only problem I have so far is a conflict with my "clockfu" addon. After loading 4.0 I can't see the GC clock on the map; However it does go through the network synch ok. When I disable clockfu it comes back after relogging.
GC works, I just can't access it unless my clockfu is disabled.
Not an earth shattering problem, but there it is.

Mundocani saidI think there's an option in ClockFu which, by default, hides your minimap time-of-day indicator. If you can find that option you should be able to restore the ToD indicator and then GC's clock will show up again.

brendwen saidI have run into a small snag with GC. This seems to have been an issue for a while. I am unable to mark myself "unable to attend" to any events I have scheduled. I am only able to do that for events that others have scheduled. I usually schedule guild raids for several weeks at a time. Occasionally I am unable to attend those events but cannot say so. I am only able to mark the "I will attend" box. I'd like to see the option to mark myself unavailable for events that I have scheduled.

Mundocani saidThis problem will be addressed in the next release, 4.1. I expect the first beta next week and it should be a short beta period. 4.1 will also solve the problem of Standby and Maybe attending being the same thing by separating them into two different status' (statii? statuses? bleah)

Ferusnox saidAnyway to set it up so that the mod can have both a guild data stream and a non-guild stream? I'd like to be able to have two calendars, so we can set up both guild and alliance activities.

Mundocani saidYou have to share the same channel, but you can mark an event as '<Your Guild Name> Members Only' using the checkbox at the bottom of the event editor window.

Phelanova saidHi!
Would it be possible to get some new tabs, like raids and instance and pvp or that?
Something like that, to get much more overview.
I think it could be 3 or 4 Tabs above the left site where the calendar is. Every tab causes that only the event selected are shown in the calendar.

Mundocani saidI'll be adding more filtering options at some point, though I'm not sure I'll do it for 4.1. I'll keep your suggestion to filter by Raids, Dungeons, PvP and Other (meetings, role-playing, etc.) event types. Currently my thought is to just add four checkboxes at the bottom of the calendar window, similar to the "Use Server Times" box except grouped together and on the left side of the window.

skarrde saidwhich addon list are you looking at? The one at the character login screen or the one under the interface screen that you get in game? Check to see if it is in ur worldofwarcraft/interface/addons folder. If it is there then I am nto sure why it wouldn't be in ur addon list.

CurtisTheGreat saidJust another strange thing that happened...
I created an event last night, people saw it and signed up.
Today, I was on an alt and my computer crashed. When I came back online, I got the message with the Update/Delete options. I chose Update, and the event I created last night disappeared.

Mundocani saidI'm not sure what's causing this for some people, but I think it's related to using multiple computers (either sharing your account or logging in from both home and work). I'm still gathering clues to help me figure out how this problem happens.

CurtisTheGreat saidJust wanted to report that my guild is having those intermittent issues with the entire calendar going blank.
Doing a backup/restore doesn't restore all the events for the people, so I'm not sure what to do to help them restore their events.
Maybe it's another addon causing issues? I might see if I can get a list of addons that people are using, and see if the people that are having issues have a common addon and see if removing that addon does anything. Rather large undertaking, but I'll do whatever I can to help make this more stable. :)

naimh saidWe have a few closed events where I will post the attendance and close the event so no one else can sign up. We also close voluntary sign ups the day before the event to eliminate people changing their status 5 minutes before the run. We have a lot of people who will be registered and then decide they don't feel like going so drop at the last minute and I have no record of them being there so I can't hold them accountable. The close feature really helps with this, unfortunately if I go into an event I've closed to check the attendance or whatever, it automatically reverts to open. Is that wai? Also...was there a fix for the people getting automatically booted or reverted to standby?

Mundocani saidI haven't fixed the problem with people getting put on Standby, though it seems like the problem only happens if you don't select an event type or if you use the Meeting event type. I should be able to have it fixed for the next build.
I'll check on the problem with the menu setting reverting too, that sounds pretty annoying.
UPDATE: I've posted 4.0.2 which fixes both problems.

ikono saidThe newest group calendar doesn't work at all for my machine. Every time I log in, it gives the message as if I had done a /reloadui, and refuses to load.
