  • About Gatherer
  •

Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.

For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/

USAGE:

Just use the game as normal. When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map. If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.

  • June 26, 2008, 06:16AM (1 week, 2 days ago)

hey love the addon, small prob. i updated to the latest version and now my hud is really small, i use to be able to c a ways off what the nodes were but now is very small and close but i cant figure out how to make it bigger. the trail still goes to were the edges of the hud was before but the actual nodes r only aprearing in a small circle in the middle. plz help

  • June 26, 2008, 06:28AM (1 week, 2 days ago)

ok i figured out what was limiting it, my HUD is acting directly with minimap controls. like turn minimap nodes off turns the my hud off, and tracks the same number of nodes, how do i fix this?

  • June 26, 2008, 07:17PM (1 week, 2 days ago)

    Thiril,

The HUD is a child frame of the minimap.

What this means is that you can have less items appear on the HUD, or see a smaller area, but not a larger area.

Think of it like using a cookie cutter- once you use the minimap cutter on the dough, you can then make smaller cookies with the HUD cutter, but not bigger ones.

Hope this clears up the confusion,

    Nikk

I am running into this error message every time I loot a corpse.

Thanks for any help you provide.

    Dark_Wolf,

The reason you did not have a personalized response here, is that the comment to the post below yours answers your question as well.

For both, if updating does not fix the issue, then you need to find out what other addon is providing the old, outdated copy of libswag.lua. To do this, disable all other addons, then enable one at a time to determine the culprit.

Once you know the offender, contact the author and ask them to update since they are causing issues in other places, and likely within their own addon as well.

    http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/1739/clipboard01hu2.jpg

This pops up about every 0.5 seconds with gatherer enabled.

    Kaze06,

That issue was addressed a few versions ago- you need to upgrade to the latest version of Gatherer.

One time I enabled the Gatherer HUD, and the first time I saw it, it rotated depending on which direction I was facing. I can't seem to find that option again. Any tips?

  • June 24, 2008, 07:10AM (1 week, 4 days ago)

    Yamamoto114,

The HUD is controlled by the minimap- to change the rotation as you describe, you need to change the setting for minimap rotation under the Interface menu.

can u have it to track Netherwing Eggs?

  • June 21, 2008, 04:01PM (2 weeks ago)

    TheTrueMullet,

This ability was added in v3.0.1.

Be sure to check the options and ensure that you are allowing Netherwing Eggs to be displayed on the world/minimap and HUD. They can be found under the "Treasure" section.

    Hope this helps,

    Nikk

This mod is simply fantastic, I can not live with out it on my toons that have gathering skills. The little tab that automatically hides its self and turns transparant until moused over is very stylish... I wish more add-ons had this feature instead of the minimap ring being cluttered up like crazy. I wanna say thank you to the creator(s). Well done you have given us, the player, a very potent tool !

You need to unzip it to your C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons folder, then it will show up in the bottom left corner (Addon button) of your character selection screen.

    Guerilla,

Just to the right of the Gatherer Screen Shot on the left of the Curse, Gatherer page, and just below the "About Gatherer" heading, there are 3 tabs, Description | Changes | Installing - click on the Installing tab.

The directions there are pretty self-explanatory.

Is there some how that users can upload there saved variables to a database that way we can all download the database of everybodys known locations and already have hot spots to go check? think this would be great...

  • June 12, 2008, 12:22AM (3 weeks, 2 days ago)

    Afflictiondos,

As Arlyn said, that is our only provided database, gleaned from a number of addon sites, notably WoWHead.

Note that not all nodes are contained within the database, Blizzard does not make the full range of nodes known- yes, we have asked, so we glean what data we can from the sources available to us.

The best method is to find a trusted guildmate and have them share their data. For detailed procedures, see http://wiki.norganna.org/Gatherer/FAQ/ , item 7.

From the options you and your guild/party can also share nodes amongst one another as they are gathered, simply look under the "Sharing" category for more information, the options are self-explanatory.

    Happy Gatherering,

    Nikk

Yes, you can use the WoWhead database available at http://GathererAddOn.Com/dl/ (download it as separate directory, and under plugins in Gatherer, choose import database). Now if I could only get mine to work properly, it probably crashes with some other addon...
