- About MikScrollingBattleText
MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.
See a feature overview video updated for 5.0! Decent Quality Stream:
Note: This video is of version 5.0 and is out of date - specifically regarding triggers. It is still a good overview of the mod however. Make sure to click the Full button on the bottom right of the video to view it full screen!
Features:
- Lightweight and efficient design.
- Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
- Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
- Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
- Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
- Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
- Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
- Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
- Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
- Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
- Color damage amounts according to damage type.
- Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
- Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
- Load on demand options.
- For mod developers:
- Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function. - Create custom animation styles. - See the included API.html file for reference information.

I have been told the the Blizzard combat log randomly stops reporting on non-English clients. I suspect this is probably your issue.
If that is indeed the case, there is nothing I can do until Blizzard fixes their end.

Mikk saidKalintohu:
I think you are seeing a bug in the Blizzard combat log. I've been told that it sometimes stops reporting on non-English clients. I'm sure Blizzard is working on it.
Kurnurs:
There is not a combat log event for trinkets, and therefore you can't trigger on it.

Kurnurs saidHey. Love this addon, I was wondering though if there was a way to add a trigger to show when someone in range of your combat log has used their trinket. I've tried many ways to do this but can't get it to work. Just let me know if it's not possible.

kalintohu saidIn 5.11 this addons makes bugs. On my rogue when I put some poison on my dagger MikScrollingBattleText stop to working and I must to relog. Have this bug in 5.13?

Exclusive icons causes %s to be suppressed when there is a icon known for the kill name. Use %sl to override.

Spudsly saidThank you for the quick response. Now, using the beta, it shows the spell icon for the spell that was reflected and says "Reflect", is there any way to format it like "*spell icon* Spell name - Reflect"? I should mention that when I go into the output message it reads "(%s) Reflect!". I thought the %s would make it show the name. Thanks again.

Mikk saidJeck:
Thanks for the update. I'll add a %e for "extra" effects to cover situations like this then.
Spudsly:
I believe in version 5.13, only the refelected damage shows as if you did it and there is not an actual "Reflect" message. I've changed that in the current beta version, so it'll be in the next release.
Bokabin:
Check General Tab -> Game Damage.

Bokabin saidOkey, lovly mod, downloaded it yesterday and i adore it, using it instead of sct now, and i completely love that you can create ure own triggers. BUT ofc everything must have a downside, im not using the outgoing dmg, basically i just don't like it, im not used to it and i don't wanna get used to it even if msbt has some great aoe and dot features. I just like having the dmg display over my targets head and all. But now everytime that i log off it turns off blizzards own "target damage" in the interface option, and ive turned of every outgoing thingy i can find in the msbt option but no success.
And yes im sure msbt is causing this cause ive turned the mod off and logged in and everything is back to normal.
thanks

Spudsly saidIt's a bit embarrassing, but I can't get a notification of spells I reflect to work. I don't see it in any of my lists. I see skill reflect but no matter how I configure that, it doesn't work. Do I need a newer version (using 5.13).

Jeck said@Mik
yeah, it just says "Dispel Magic" =P. the dispel method in the event-outgoing player part works great, however it doesnt work on allies or people im not targetting. if that can be changed somehow to include those, then there wouldnt really be any need for a trigger.

Mikk saidJeck:
It should be an Aura Dispel with a Source Unit Affiliation - Is Equal To - You. The output message would include %s for the skill name, although now that I think about it, that is probably going to end up being the name of the skill that did the dispelling and not the one that was dispelled. Let me know if that is the case if you would.
IcySoul:
Interesting. Mine show up without any issues. Is this an English client?
LordOfLols:
I don't know what version you have, but if it is not the Beta version, then make sure you have at least version 5.13. If you are using the beta version, then you'll need to use %a instead of %1 since the trigger system changed.

LordOfLols saidthere's something wrong with the low heal/mana procc. you can't let it show the curent hp/mana, like in sct and like it was pre 2.4.2 as i remember. it's showing instead of the amount %1 now

maybe you can assist me, but i cant get this dispel thing to work for the life of me. everything else works great now. i want it to display just like the built in dispel thing in events, however that one only seems to work if i cast dispel on my current target, and doesnt work if theyre allies. i want to be able to see what i buffs/debuffs i dispel, no matter what my target is. could you tell me the conditions to use? ive been playing around with it all day and cant figure it out.

Mikk saidBandcamp:
You can enter it into the MSBTSounds.lua file directly. The included readme.html has an FAQ entry on how to do that.
Zasz:
That was an error introduced by Blizzard Path 2.4.2. You'll need at least MSBT 5.12 (5.13 is the latest release) to remedy that.

Bandcamp saidHey dude, best infoscroll around, thanks for being smart! Now, please tell me I am not dumb... I am trying to get it to play Illidans "You are not prepared!" whenever a cooldown comes up, and can't figure out the format to put it in to get it to play...
The sound file is in the game folders, Sound\\Creature\\Illidan\\BLACK_Illidan_04.wav and can be played in game by typing /run PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Illidan\\BLACK_Illidan_04.wav");
Yet no matter how I enter it into the cooldown sound area, I cannot get it to play... PLEASE HELP!!! ;-)
