Avanina saidFunny, firstly, I wish you and your soon-to-be-husband the very best of health and luck - congratulations!
Secondly, I'm not sure this will help clarify what happened, but here goes:
The Curse user "mrsmurftoyou" published a version of PetEmote with phrases that, according to the comments of another user, basically made PetEmote less charming. Then, the "author" uploaded a version without those phrases. I had posted a comment explaining how to fix the TOC in your version of PetEmote, but mrsmurftoyou deleted my comment. Mrsmurftoyou deleted their version of PetEmote, and uploaded "Pet Emote" which seemed to be the same as your PetEmote, just with a fixed TOC. Supposedly, there was some sort of bug in their Pet Emote.
I didn't bother to download any of their versions, because I didn't appreciate their way of handling your addon. The name/server on 1.41's TOC matches one of the characters on mrsmurftoyou's Curse profile. Somehow, mrsmurftoyou published their addon on your page, Funny. If this goes against the TOS for Curse, you may want to talk to a Curse administrator.
Definitely not cool behavior on part of this "addon author."
In the end, I'm sticking with the 1.4 version - I've used it since January 12th without any problem, and have used this addon since you first published it. I will switch when your next version comes out, because I trust your integrity. :)

Funny saidI see... thanks for clarification and the wishes as well. ;o)
So this is the dark side of open source. I'll fix this and trust in anyone to know which PetEmote is the original.

Avanina saidYou're welcome, I'm glad the information was helpful. I'm not very familiar with Curse's policies as most of the addons I use are hosted on other sites, but I'm glad the issue can easily be fixed. Cheers and take care!

Just not sure why its not working for me and my friend...any suggestion?
Thanks

Funny saidWarlock's pets can't have random emotes, because they have no happiness and there's no need to feed them. Make sure that your friend uses /pet random on with his hunter character.

Adrik saidok so they cannot have the /pet random on
but do they just do emotes from time to time like the hunter ones do?
or does this mod only work for hunter??
because if it does work for warlocks as well my pets have not done anything
since i have installed this mod

Avanina saidIf you play a hunter and you have "random" set to on, then the pet will do an emote every once in a while - the emote is determined by the pet's happiness. Happiness is affected by how hungry the pet is.
A warlock's pet never gets hungry, therefore it will never randomly emote. So, if you are playing a warlock and you have "random" set to on, nothing will occur - the addon still works, though.
A warlock can still use type "/pet growls." and the addon will still broadcast this properly.

Funny saidGuess it's time to give a short statement about the project and its future development.
I started this addon in September 2006. I never thought that it would result in something which i call a little community. Maybe I can be a bit proud of that, but this is not my intention. I think it started attracting a huge amount of interest when I first asked for more random emotes in the official forums.
Of course, I welcome that. It brings the project forward, it brings new ideas and possible features. And I am glad that others enjoy PetEmote as I do. (Wanna know what my bear Mad latterly does? Mad finds himself incredibly good. Is that funny in english? However, my mates like it. ;-))
Anyway, I am surprised to find a version 1.41 today (why is a 2.4 TOC needed? There are so many addons out of date after a big patch, so you have to turn on loading old addons anyway). I hold that I launched the project - is it running out of my hands now? There are mods going round and guesses that I quit working on it. Hey guys, I'm still alive! I will continue working on it, but please give me some time to quickly get married and spend some time on holiday.
Don't missunderstand me - I'm not angry. What I like to tell you is that bringing up a 1.5 is not easier for me, when mods and inofficial versions spring up like mushrooms. (How did that 1.41 come here anyway? Afaik I am the only developer who has access to the project page.)
So I please you - keep cool. There will be a version 1.5 and it will be bigger, better, faster, more. All I need is some time and your ideas and emotes. :)

Kazragore saidFüttern Emote geht seit dem Patch nicht mehr. Nur noch die Random Zufriedenheits-Emotes, beim füttern kommt gar nichts mehr.
Feed emotes doesn't work since 2.4.0, only the random happiness emotes works. After you feed your pet, no emotes. :(

Avanina saidIf you do not get any errors when using PetEmote, the addon should be perfectly good for use. If you wish to update the TOC so the addon will not appear out of date, do the following:
****Back up or save a copy of PetEmote. I have minimal knowledge of coding, but have maintained my own copy of PetEmote through the following steps and wanted to share what I learned through trial and error. Attempt at your own discretion.****
1) Open the PetEmote.toc file with notepad - or download/use Notepad++.
2) Find: ## Interface: 20300 and replace the "3" with "4".
3) Save the file and log into the game - it should now show as being compatible with the 2.4 patch.
If you want to modify the random phrases said by pets, do the following:
1) Open the localization.lua file.
2) Scroll to line 517 (if using Notepad++) or hit Ctrl+F and search for "feels very hungry!" as this will bring you to the English section (German localization makes up the first half of the file.)
3) Change the pre-existing text as you see fit.
If you want to add more random phrases, type your phrase on a new line, using the pre-existing text as a guide for format. Make sure each line you add has a comma [ , ] at the end of it. Also make sure that your lines come before [ }, ].
If you do add additional phrases, please be respectful of others. ;) It may be an addon spitting out phrases, but you're the one who added those phrases in the first place.
I suggest using Notepad++ because it presents the file in an easier to read format (it is also free).
Hopefully this addon will stay in a stable state for a long while.

Kurasu saidWhen editing the .lua file, I've twice had to bring back an old copy because the pet stopped emoting properly. I didn't *think* I was breaking the code anywhere, but I was obviously wrong!
Is there a maximum length of the .lua file, or do I just keep messing up with the code portion somewhere or another? I'm really wanting to change the random emote messages. I love the concept, but it needs more, and slightly more... English ones. :)

jackprince saidIs it possible to let my little drachkin emote, too?
So my main char is a Druid and I would love to let my
(non-controllable) pets emote
with me ... for example:
"Laruna's tiny emerald drachkin is sniffing on her bag"
... I will recommend this Addon to my fellow RP friends

DrunkenRogue saidI love this mod so much! It makes my Warlock's storyline possible, I just wish everyone had this mod so they'd see my pet emoting by name instead of mine.
Also, thank you for making the random emote togglable.

Helot saidI have just installed PetEmote on my hunter's account and have noticed a problem with what is displayed to non PetEmote users (I run two accounts which enabled me to see this).
For example:
'/pet wants to eat a gnome' correctly displays on my hunter's screen as '<Pet Name> wants to eat a gnome' but displays as '<Character Name> eats<Pet Name> wants to eat a gnome' on the second 'non PetEmote' account.
I have the same issue from the .lua generated emotes.
For example:
'<Pet Name> streches extensive' displays correctly on my hunter's screen, but displays as '<Character Name> eats<Pet Name> streches extensive' to the second account.
Both accounts run a basic Photek UI.
I love this macro idea but will probably have to discontinue using it if I can't resolve the problem ( /cries!) so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks :)

Funny saidTry /pet mask off (undocumented) to see what others see, even if PetEmote is installed.
Most likely another addon, maybe a spam blocker or chat cleaner, will cause the effect. There is a conflict with Eloquence for example. In this case I can't fix the problem. :-(
