About Shaman Friend

This addon is designed specially for the Shaman class. It contains a lot of usefull functions no matter which spec you are.

It should work with most languages, even though Curse is a bit slow on updating it...

Here are a few off the functions:

- Remind/alert for Elemental Shields and Weapon Enchants when fading or missing in combat (with sound support)
- Show total Windfury damage with options to include advanced info: Crits, misses and which hand the procs come from. 
  If it procced of Stormstrike, the data from both hits are summed together and adds to the damage.
- Show a message when Lightning Overload procs, optionally together with total damage and number of crits.
- Separate frame allowing for easy Earth Shield tracking and recast
- Show buffs removed by Purge and/or broadcast it to the chat window
- Show spell interrupted by Earth Shock and/or broadcast it to the chat window
- Show when your Grounding Totem aborbs a spell and/or broadcast it to the chat window
- Show when one of your T5 bonuses procs
- Can print messages in MSBT, SCT, Parrot and a few other places.
- Announce to your group whenever you cast Bloodlust/Heroism or Mana Tide
- Uses spellID when avaible, this removes the need of localization in most cases.

Of course you can choose yourself which functions you want. It is built on Ace2 for increased effiency and perfomance, with low memory footprint.

"/sf" or "/shamanfriend" to show the GUI.

Installation Guide

Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
  - Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
  - WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
  - WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
  - StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
Start World of Warcraft
Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Excellent addon! One request: an option to remove the tooltip on the EarthShield tracker; it obscures quite a large area of my screen so an option not to display the tooltip for the earthsield would be cool.

Also, cofirmed bug as well for Razzberry's comment below.

Haven't seen this reported yet, but with the Earth Shield tracker turned on, when I hide my interface using Alt-Z, the icon for the tracker remains on the screen. The tracking information text box disappears as expected, but just the icon remains.

I'm another person that loves this addon but misses the announcement when your Earth Shield wears off of someone other than yourself. The text notification works fins but some kinda of noise would be better.

Edit: Something I noticed lat night in my raid, my Grounding Totem broadcast is broadcasting spells eaten by other Shamans Grounding Totem in addition to broadcasting mine. Somewhat annoying.

Hi - I love the ShamanFriend addon, but Ive noticed a few minor bugs.

Could anyone please teach me how to make this UI works for Chinese version (Taiwan).

The wordings / messages don't have to be in Chinese, all I want is to make it able to show the "Total Windfury Damage".

If you are using the latest version most of the things should work out of the box without requiring any localisation. If you are intrested you can open the files in the local directory and take a look at them. If you wan't to translate it into another language feel free to do so. Take a look in the Korean and German file to see how they did it.

One feature I would really like to see in this addon I kinda enjoy in another addon for warlocks is:
in warlockalert:
when you gain Shadow Trance/Backlash you get an on screen message(like windfury does) and/or screen flash to alert you that the buff is running....I really love this addon got rid of EStracker and few others cuz this has it all incorperated
But I would like to see that function added for Eye of the Storm Clearcasting/Focused effect.
Like is currently implemented in Shaman Warning

everything works well for me except grounding message,i try to reset profile settings but this changed nothing

I was just wondering what exactly does it mean when you get a double or tripple crit announced by Shaman Friend? Say it announces a Double crit: 2000. Does that mean what you actually hit for was 4000?

It means that you got 2 crits. The total damage counting both crits and the normal hits are 2000.

It warns me if no elemental shield is present while in combat,also when water shield fades. But elemental shield fade warning stoped working suddenly!
Combat enter and exit doesnt warn also.
Output is SF,options are all enabled with 3 secs timing.

latest version,english client.
