About Mappy
Mappy is a square minimap addon and features:
- Easy to use. No setup required, just install and it works
- Automatic arrangement of addon buttons (NOTE: If you prefer to have complete control over your addon button positions then this addon is NOT for you. If you're like me and like things that "just work" then you'll enjoy this feature)
- Easy to resize. The map stays anchored in the corner so you can resize at-will without having to re-position each time.
- "Combat Alpha" so you can make the map fade while you're in combat
- Built-in coordinate display
- Scroll-wheel zooming of the minimap
- Optionally hide the time of day indicator, world map button and zoom in/out buttons
To move the minimap just drag it, to adjust the size or transparancy just right-click on the minimap
- The new WoW clock is positioned correctly
- Landmark arrows no longer fade with the minimap alpha
- '/mappy default' command is now '/mappy normal'
- Saved minimap configs can be loaded by using their name as a command. For example '/mappy raid' will load a saved configuration named raid (previous versions required the longer '/mappy load raid' to do the same thing)
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

rlp122 saidTo fix the PlayerArrow error. Navigate to your Mappy folder in World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\Mappy. Open Mappy.lua in notepad and search for Self.PlayerArrow. You should only find one instance. Place a -- and a space before the word Self.PlayerArrow.
Restart Wow. This should fix the problem until a patch comes out. This has been tested by two seperate players and appears to fix the scrambled buttons problem.
If this does not fix the problem, try typing /console reloadui and pressing enter to reload the User Interface.

Drakma saidHi Mundo,
I also do have the problem whith autoarrangebutton. Regarding the mini-clok, its gets overs addon's icons. Can you manage to avoid that behavior ?
One last thing : sometimes, when I click on the map, the menu appears but the options are not checked. I click two other times and then I see the boxes checked.
Thanks

KtRhN saidVery Nice Addon.
There is only one thing (besides the current error) : could you make an option for disabling the "N" in the north of the map?

Mundocani saidI'm working on disabling the auto-stacking of your minimap buttons, though that feature was the main reason I wrote Mappy. There is an option to disable it now, but it doesn't work correctly so I still need to work some more on it.
I'll look at making the sliders wider so that there's more control over the size.

Drakma saidThanks for your answer :)
Here you can find details:
http://www.wowdb.com/spell.aspx?id=6196
or in French
http://fr.wowdb.com/spell.aspx?id=6196.
as I don't know from where you are.
It allows you to click on the land where you stay or on the mini-map to see far from where you are; and you can do it several times meaning you click one to see 10 meters from you then you click again to see 20 meters away and so on...
If you can see what is going wrong, it would be great; and feel free to use me to test!
Thanks for your work :)

Drakma saidAnother point : I tried the last release whith the ghost option. When it is set to unghost, I can click on th map, and I get the small blinking circle where I click. With the ghost option, I can through the mini map, but the "far sight"("double vue") doesn't work, because it does not interact with the mini map but with the land where I stand. It should allow me to see far from where I at the place where I clicked on it. (sorry hard to explain in English)

Mundocani saidCheck to see if another addon is interfering. With it unlocked you should be able to simply drag it around.

Mundocani saidNo idea, Mappy doesn't reposition the minimap based on other windows. Try disabling your other addons and see if the problem persists, if it goes away narrow down which addon is doing this and I can see if there's anything I can do to prevent it.

magicof1 saidcould you tell me how to fix a prob I am having. it seem when I went to move the minimap it just disappeared and I can't get it back how do I fix this.

Mundocani saidNot sure why it'd disappear, but you can try this
/script gMappy_Settings = nil
and then
/console reloadui
to force Mappy to re-initialize back to the default settings. I'll try to get a '/mappy reset' command added to make that easier in the future.

trancegression saidfor some reason today when i queue up for a BG the BG 'mini button' moves to the bottome left of mappy and then 3-4 icons scroll down below is, so basically i have the BG button on the bottom line of the map, then directly below that is the +, - and some other random mini button. While not game breaking it is annoying. I tried deleting the .lau file in saved variables but that didn't seem to help. Any idea what other mod might be causing the problem? I updated all of them after this problem occured (including mappy) but it is still happening.

Mundocani saidI'll have to take a look. Mappy stacks the buttons mostly in the order that it discovers them, but I thought I had it coded to keep the basic UI buttons in a sensible order.

g3brown saidI want to remove arrows and the N (north) from the mini-map. I found DamnArrows which removed the arrows, but I'm still stuck with the N at the moment.
