  • About Arena Unit Frames
  •

Unit frames for your arena opponents, with limitations.

Those limitations include:

- You (or somebody else in your group with this addon) must mouseover, or you (or someone in your group) must target your opponents to display their frames.

- You must mouseover/target your opponents prior to entering combat in order for the unit frames to have any sort of on-click functionality. (i.e. targeting, focusing) If you fail to do so, then on-click functionality of the frame will be set the instant you leave combat. Frames without on-click functionality will display a reddish hue icon.

- You, your focus, your pet, or someone else on your team must have the opponent/unit targeted (or be the target of this target) in order for his/her frame to display up-to-date health and mana, debuffs, ToT, and cast bars. If nobody has that person targeted, then somebody with the addon installed can mouseover or focus said target to update that player's hitpoints and mana for your team. Frames that are semi-transparent indicate a unit that is not targeted, (by you other other teammates) focused, or mouseovered and that the hp and mana of this player may be inaccurate, and do not show debuffs or casting bars.

Features:

- Health and mana bars

- Debuffs and Buffs

- Target of Target

- Cast bars

- Alerts for low health, deaths, invulns, silences, and school locks. Starcraft sound effects optional

- (default) Left click the frame to target the unit. Right click to target + focus the unit. If no unit is currently focused, then left clicking will also focus. It is advisable to focus a target you do not intend to kill first.

- Customizable unit frame on-click functionality, including the ability to use abilities and execute macros. For example, shift left click on a unit could be set to counterspell said unit. Configurable by opponent's class.

- The little class icons to the right of the unit's target indicate your allies are targeting that unit. You can click on these icons to target that unit, even if that unit frame was not created prior to combat.

- The unit's class icon will be replaced with CC effect icons should that unit be afflicted by one. I.e. polymorph, sap, fear

This is a great addon, any plans on updating?

  • July 8, 2008, 03:38PM (2 weeks, 2 days ago)

How do you open the config menu? I've looked at the notes above, checked the authors website, tried the obvious "/auf" but nothing works.

    Help?

It's integrated into Blizzard's interface options panel. I really should put a screen shot of it up I guess

    Nice update.

I have my Counterspell binded on middle click for default action. One thing I've noticed is that if I counterspell my target, but through the AUF using my middle click, for some reason I lose my target (it just untargets my current target). But if I was targeting something else (like targeting a warrior and counterspelling a pally with my middle click) everything is fine and I don't lose it.

Just a small detail, nothing big.

Thats because casting a spell by clicking on the frame does this macro:

    /targetexact (name)
    /cast (spell)
    /targetlasttarget

Technically speaking, the frames in this addon aren't unit frames at all, but a collection of work-arounds to try to emulate unit frames. (hence the long list of limitations)

So I'm sorry, but there is no way to "fix" that problem.

    If I'm understanding this correctly a macro with;

    /cast [target=(exact name here)] spell

Will do the same but never change your current target, hence no need to target X, cast, retarget last.

I tried that a long time ago, but it didn't work for a reason I forget

The mod is great but I can't seem to find a resize option anywhere. I know I can go into interface options... but I'd like to resize it independently. Is there a way I can resize it like this?

The next update will include an option to scale the frame

For some reason after installing this mod, I am unable to see my team member names or my individual ratings and such. If I disable the mod, names and everything else seem to appear. Just curious, if anyone else was having this issue.

Does this have the irritating feature of control arena where you cant target someone if they were stealth before being put in combat? I could care less about all the other features these addons have, all I want is the ability to target anyone in the arena on the fly, the "features" these mods all have that show what they're casting the ability to cast stuff on clicking them etc. is useless to me, thats what focus and focus macros are for. All I want to be able to do is target someone.

Your answer is stated quite clearly in the addon's description.

Loved this addon more than anything, but since the recent patch there are no more alerts for spell locks, invulnerability, and hostile deaths. It only has sounds for hostile almost dying. I tried removing from wtf folder and re-installing but its still not working. Any ideas please?

I really liked this addon. small and fucntional. I have a question though. It seems as though it has disappeared from my UI. I have it installed and reset the Saved Variables files associated with the addon, but it still doesn't seem to come back to my UI. typing /auf does nothing.

    Is this addon broken?

It's possible you moved the window off the screen. Try looking hard for the edge of the frame, or delete the entry in layout-cache.txt in your character's folder. I'll have to code a window position reset command for this addon. Usually I do for my addons, but apparently I neglected it in this one.

Thanks, that was it! I tried re-installing the mod and removing my saved variables, but that didn't work. Your suggestion worked though. Guess I must have moved it off the screen running around the Nagrand Arena with my partner lol. Thanks again!

This is by far the best addon for arenas, but... It lacks a resize option. That's why people prefer Proximo - you don't have to play with a small tiny window frame (it DOES matter when you have so many things to take care of - specially if you're a CC class).

Anyway, thanks for this great addon. We'd kill to be able to play with a bigger window, but we all love it :)

If it were easy to do so, I would have by now. Unfortunately it will be non-trivial and I have a long list of projects to work on. Some of the events broke in 2.4 as well, even though they worked on test. (thanks Blizzard) And unfortunately, addon authors do not get paid, so I have to set priorities.
