I created a new sync profile from 1 computer. On another computer I joined. Addons on the 2 computes doesn't match. Actually the sync seems to do nothing at all??
Are you on PC or Mac? Addon Sync is not currently integrated for Macs.
Follow this guide, and if everything is set up properly and still doesn't work, could you please submit a bug report on the second computer via the little bug icon in the Client? That will submit a diagnostics report. :D
Is there an ETA on Addon Sync being added to the Macintosh Client? I recently upped to premium just so I could sync my Gaming PC and Macbook Pro's WoW Addons.
Unfortunately not at this time, but this is a feature we'd like to extend to our Mac users. :)
I likewise upgraded to premium almost entirely for this reason - perhaps you should make this clearer that it's only available for PC users - now I've wasted a bunch of money for no gain...
In fact while you're at it - perhaps advertising this feature on the mac clients might not be the most justifiable idea? I didn't know it existed until I read it in the advert on my Mac client...
Is this something which is likely to happen in the next few months or shall I just cancel my subscription?
Sorry to sound peeved, but as a developer of both OS X, Windows and Web apps I can't workout how this could be any harder on OS X than Windows, surely the process is identical as the folder structures are identical?
On the Premium signup page (you'll need to be logged out or in a different browser to see it if you're already Premium), there is an asterisk next to the first two features -- both Addon Sync and Addon Settings backup in the title and the hover-over -- and underneath the features there is the note that these features are only for PC. There's no timeframe currently for bringing these features to the Mac version of the Client.
Yes wishfire - I am aware of that - but like I said - it's hardly made clear - and a bit dodgy to advertise these selling points on the Mac client itself, when they don't actually apply to teh Mac client.
Check your PMs, wsmithrill.
I'd also love an answer to this, as I am in the exact same situation and just as puzzled.
At this time, we simply can't add those features in -- it is something we have planned for the future, and absolutely want in both of our Clients.
Edit: To be more specific, the Mac Client from a development standpoint is in maintenance mode, as we are attempting to expand our Mac development team. :)
Well I just wasted money on a subscription as well..... Is there a way to copy the addons over to the MAC or will they not work? It would be a pain to waste several hours redoing all my configurations of my add ons....
You could theoretically archive (.zip would work, you'd need StuffIt if you're not on OSX) your WTF, Interface, and Cache folders from the PC, copy it over to the Mac and open it, and then move those folders to the WoW folder accepting any overwrites to keep your settings -- this will save macros and the like, as well. :)
I was pining for Mac sync over a year ago when I upgraded to Premium. I've since let my Premium Subscription lapse until Mac Sync is implemented.
You guys might see a nice influx of premium subscriptions if you get Mac syncing out there.
Thanks,
Russ
We've been expanding our development team and have the resources now to expand the Mac Client. This is a feature we really want to have as well. We'll keep you posted.
You know what would be nice? Something like a really, really big sign on the Curse Premium page that says "DOESN'T SYNC ON MAC". Because that seems to be pretty much the one feature that's actually useful.
I signed up for premium just to have access to the sync, only to ask, "hey, why isn't it working" and then find, hey, it doesn't run on macintoshes. Tell you what: contact me, shoot me the source code for the mac client, and I'll enable it myself.
I feel more-or-less cheated here. But hey, I have three months of premium so I can say "update all" in the occasions when I have more than one addon to update. Teaches me to take the easy way out, now I'm going to have to write a cron job with rsync to make this work manually.
Sigh.
