Welcome to our discussion thread for the Towns contest we're running on Curse! This separate thread is for questions, comments, concerns, and anything other than your entries you'd like to post.
Are you a fabulous and accomplished builder? Do you have an amazingly artistic eye, but fail to get the recognition you deserve? Now is your chance to shine, as we are hosting a Towns Building Contest! Build something awesome, and you could win a Logitech Peripherals pack including:
Logitech G510 Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G35 Headset
Logitech G600 Gaming Mouse
Players have four weeks to get submissions together, and it can be anything, as long as it's multileveled and manipulates water or lava in some way. For more contest information, visit the official entry post.
Towns is a city-building RPG in which you are the leader of a small settlement. Give your citizens direction, and watch them work to please you (or slack off, you can't win them all). Design elaborate interiors and exteriors, with tools available to craft a large variety of items. Dig deep into the earth, acquire resources, explore dungeons, and make sure your town can support your hero to victory.
Need help getting started? The Towns Wiki has all the information you need to be successful, including environmental data, gameplay guides, item breakdowns, modifications, and more. Be sure to check it out if you require assistance!
Welcome Townies new and old! I hope everyone haves fun during this contest! Be sure to use the links above to find resources to help you on your Journey, and feel free to ask me for help. Good luck everyone!
Here is a video showing a completed city in Towns, and should be able to provide inspiration to anyone interested in participating. If you want to see how to build a particular structure in the city or the entire city itself, feel free to watch through the series. If you need directed to a particular episode, let me know.
Will there be any problem if my entry is posted in video (youtube), instead of just a screenshot? Most of its content will be animated, and difficult to show with just photos. I might include some photos if necessary, but the video is almost a "must" to fully see the creation. In past contests this was allowed, but since it's hosted here I just want to make sure.
Also, I live in Spain, which I've found makes me not allowed to participate in the contest. But, I contacted some friends in Germany that agreed to post the entry on my behalf. I guess the problem with Spain might be about the shipping, or some law against contests, or whatever. So if that friend posts the entry on my behalf and (should I happen to win) takes the prize for me there's no problem at all, right?
I hope everything is right, and thanks for your time.
EDIT: Oh and btw, I haven't found any details on how the voting will be done and who will be able to vote. It's the same rules as the entry of the contest? or just anyone with an account can vote?
The reason we exclude Spain has to do with Spain's rules regarding sweepstakes and contests. Your friend can enter for you from Germany, however at that point it becomes his entry, and a potential prize would be shipped to him. Outside arrangements would be your responsibility.
We'll be doing a news post with a poll to vote on entries (anyone with an account can vote, though of course we'll be checking for manipulation) once we reach the contest deadline. Good luck, and if you have any more questions let us know!
Awesome that we're seeing more entries! Only a few more days until entries close, so anyone thinking of entering should wrap up their building soon and get us some footage/screenshots at the contest post!
