Issues

For authors

  • (NEW) Paypal support is missing. Since it uses <form> to post the info, it does not work in the descriptions. Zinor will discuss with the team
  • (NEW) TOC for addon descriptions do not appear. The TOC for this thread does however. (i created a seperate thread to confirm if this should work or not)
  • (ack) images. in the 'edit screenshots' page for my mod EnchantingSeller. Shows the 3 images i have posted. selecting an image, goes to the following page which allows a comment to be made or the edit button to be pressed. the issue is on this page. besides showing my image, there are thumbnails of different images, which are not mine. Its confusing (there should be a new admin panel for images in the future)
  • (NEW) after you edit the image, it loses the context of where you came from. Which was the 'edit project' or 'edit screenshots' for that particular mod. So there is no easy way to go back to editing your mod.
  • (NEW) Addon Comments: There is no paging links to view more than 1 page of comments.
  • ~~(Fixed) Can't add beta versions for PTR patch or tBC. Tells me "None of the games selected have that version." I've tried both games, with beta type. I'm trying to select "designed for (version)" as wow 2.0~~
  • ~~ (Fixed) Why is a website required for an addon? ~~
  • ~~ (Fixed) adding or editing an image. the image appears as a link, instead of the actual image. ~~
  • ~~ (Fixed) images and downloads. oh this is a good one. adding an image and making it the default screenshot, removes the default download. and vice versa. making a download file a default, removes the default image~~
  • ~~ (Fixed) Download counts for files do not appear to increment. I believe i saw a response that the cron job that processes the counts is turned off, but counts are still being recorded. I'll leave this here as a reminder. ~~
  • ~~(Fixed) images. when you edit an image, after hitting save button, it actually removes the image, instead of saving the changes (which is now broke) ~~
  • ~~(Fixed) Addon Comments: How do you edit them ? I know there is an Edit Comments in the author menu, however it just takes you to the comment post. But how do you edit it? ~~

For Users

  • (New) you can currently only show 10 downloads total (per download 'category'), and there is no way to show/hide downloads and/or a paging system for them. Recommend either allowing more then 10 downloads per page, or adding pages (other then the default 'tab' categories).
  • ~~(fixed) last update date is reflecting any change to the mod. not just files changing, but appears when authors are editing decription etc... (it should only reflect file changes)~~
  • ~~ (fixed) Favorites page is missing info (latest version, author name?). file type is unnecessary, they are all files. ~~
  • ~~ (fixed) Favorites. The X feature for each addon. It does remove the addon from the list, but there have been feedback that its too big and bright. It may confuse some that think it functions as a quick download link. ~~
  • ~~ (fixed) the add to favorites does not change to remove from favorites once an addon is added to favorites. ~~ The fix removes the button. You must use the favorites page X to remove the addon from favorites.

Suggestions

  • Overhall of favorites functionality. This is a collapse of many requested features in many threads here.
 * Add additional buttons (like the red X). Perhaps having multiple buttons to perform different actions.
   * Add a button that would update the 'last viewed' for that favorite. Without having to visit that addon page. Even better, clicking the button would perform like Netflix voting system, and make a 'hidden' post back to the server so the user does not leave the page.
   * The red X should be smaller.
 * ~~Add back [Update Last View Time] button feature. ~~
  • (ack) voting. after you've voted for something, there is no indication that you have already voted. And trying to vote again has no impact. Suggest to remove the + or - if the user already performed that vote.
  • (NEW) Addon page. there needs to be a better way to quickly access the data you need. Scrolling through all the Authors description can be very annoying.
 * Quick links or jump to links for downloads, comments, screenshots. Perhaps in the very first table, that displays all the addon info (like project manager, website, post date). Maybe a TOC or small section of links that would anchor to the downloads, comments, screenshots sections of that page.
 * Also, perhaps a scrolling author description section, or collapsable, or both.
  • (NEW) File download enhancement. Add a automatic download feature similar to the previous versions of curse. The feature would auto select the best mirror for the file download, especially if there is only 1 mirror.
  • (NEW) Consistent date format across the site. Whether it be mm/dd/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd, it should be the same on all pages.
  • (NEW) Label System. Enhance the system so there are more default labels to start with for the author. Not sure how this would be accomplished. The first label should be the addon category (as it already is), and maybe a list of labels that other addons in that same category have?
  • (NEW) Favorites. Tighten up the 'memory' of which page you are on when you perform an action. Removing an addon from page 3, reloads you to page 1. User needs to navigate back to page 3.
  • (NEW) Forum - I make a post.. there's not preview button so I'll have to post it and then edit it again. I edit it - ok. Then I want to edit it again, but the old content is shown in the edit box. I first have to manually reload page, then the new content is there. This is very frustrating if you don't noticing that you are editing old content, since then my last edit is overwritten.
  • (NEW) When viewing an addon, the "detailed" information is all cramped together in the same small font and with some ulgy underlines once in a while. Move the different information around in the view so that one can easily identify them. Author and webpage should stand out. Favorites and downloads are statistic information, make it stick out (like, move it to under the image and make it easier to read). The style with underlined links gets too much in this cramped area. Rather make the links more subtle (differend color / shade) and then make some visualization when hovering them.

EDIT 12/5: moved some issues around. Added some control to the issues.

  • (NEW) means the issue has not yet been responded to
  • (FIXED) means the issue has been fixed and retested and is working
  • (ack) means the issue has been acknowledged by the curse team, but has not yet been fixed
  • (rejected) will mean curse has acknowledged but does not intend to fix or change it.

Thanks for your feedback Shamino. We are already aware most of these issues. Just some side notes:

  • I'm not sure about the favorites and how they were imported to the new database, the reason you see less is maybe as simple as some people still need to upgrade his account.
  • We are aware of the issue with the beta versions.
  • You shouldnt see images of other mods, this is a bug. Thanks for reporting it.
  • Again, the website requirement seems to be a bug for me.
  • And again, it looks like there are some serious issues with the editing of comments. Thank you for reporting it.
  • You can vote only once indeed, any other attemps to vote will have no impact.

We are sorry for the inconveniences the launch of V3 cause for many addon authors. I'd like to ensure everyone, we'll work on fixing the problems in the upcoming days and welcome the new World of Warcraft patch with a polished, functioning and comfortable file hosting system.

TOC in the addon pages are no longer working

http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/files/details/1712/enchantingseller/

I setup this description last night, confirmed it still looked good this morning Now I went back in this morning to edit my project, since I noticed sub categories were implemented, and after saving the change, my TOC no longer appears.

EDIT: Atlas page was working this morning also, and now it also lost the TOC. It had not been updated as far as i can tell. So I assume the TOC macro feature was removed? http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/files/details/354/atlas/

Was going to start a post like this, but you beat me to it.

Some things to add. Favorites Section: - I'm assuming the big X on the left side is to remove an addon from your favorites list, but you might want to make that a little more clear. - Curse v2 had a nice [Update Last View Time] button, that was EXTREMELY useful. Many people would appreciate the return of this button. The current list has no way of showing what addon you've just looked at after seeing there's an update (such as when your at work), vs actually downloading the new version of the addon (when you get home). - Visibility of updated addons. Currently, when viewing your favorites list, there's no way to tell what you've been to / seen / downloaded already, except for the link being bold, or normal. A visual indicator would help this greatly. (see previous notation)

Files Section: - When clicking to download a file, you have a link for "Select Fastest Server Automatically". To me, this would imply the same functionality as when using sourceforge, selecting a mirror automatically, so that anytime you goto download a file, it will automatically pick a mirror for you and start downloading. Currently, yours doesn't do that, it still requires a user to click on the "Select Fastest Server Automatically", even if you've clicked it previously. Selecting that option should provide an auto-download as soon as you click "Download Now" for all future file downloads.

For both authors / users - Labels System:

While the idea is sound in theory, in practice, it requires more effort on the part of the author to remember to list all the different labels that their addon might be considered under. What would be a good compromose, would be to provide a set of pre-defined labels available to the author, so that if they don't immediately know what labels their addon would fall under, they can check a few of the more common ones off, and have the labels for them generated automatically.

woo hoo! Lots of people bored at work on monday morning means fast user communications :).

I'm pretty sure that the Curse guys must know of the dates problem, but just a clarification of it for explination purposes.

File : ArcHUD Date Listed in Favorites Section: 12/04/2006 Last Updated: 3 months, 1 week ago Post Date: 2006 January 22nd Official Files Dates: 2006/11/02 (all listed as this date, regardless of actual upload)

Also, regarding dates, the format that you guys choose is up to you. Whether you go mm/dd/yyyy, or yyyy/mm/dd or whatever... please duplicate that format throughout the entire site. Users will adjust to whatever the site's format is, as long as it's uniform. Just come up with one longer version (ie. Saturday, December 04, 2006), and one shorter version (ie. 04/12/2006), and use those throughout the site.

P.S. - to Shamino I updated my previous post with a couple items after I thought of them, not sure if you saw them or not. Thanx for keeping the original thread updated.
