First-find an addon you want. Make sure it has a file date of later than Dec of 2006 (otherwise it maybe too old to work). Second-download the file and open it in winzip or Windows XP's default zip utility. Third-for most addons (about 90% of them), unzip or extract the contents of the zipfile to your \wow directory\interface\addons For most people it's c:\program files\world of warcraft\interface\addons\

I know this is stupid, but how do you do this: "Second-download the file and open it in winzip or Windows XP's default zip utility"

He means: Download the addon, and then open the downloaded file with WinZip or XP's default "compressed folder extraction"-utility (the one that pops up if you try to open a .zip file without any third party compression software installed) (Of course, you can also use WinRAR ^^)
