Very Disappointed In EA-Mythic

To all Warhammer Online Fans;

I, along with everyone else, have been waiting for the release of Warhammer Online. I have eagerly attended as many of events as possible, and tried to enter every contest available for a chance to play in the beta.
Well on April 18-19 I attended the Comic Con in New York City because I heard the Warhammer team was going to be there. The Comic Con was, my surprise, much more fun than I had anticipated. I was able to meet Robert Mull, which he was able answer a lot of concerns and questions I had about the game. I also got to meet Jeff, Paul and Josh, which was pretty cool. The best part of the whole Comic Con, as if things werent going great enough already, they had a drawing there for Closed Beta Access, and to my surprise I WON. I was so excited that when I got home I entered the beta key and got ready to finally dive head first into beta testing. I pretty much swore off sleep for the rest of weekend. However, after entering the key, nothing happened. Nothing at all. All I did get was an update on my profile stating that I was at the 2008 Warhammer event, but no email, no nothing, not even a response of any kind stating that I was accepted to the beta. I sent a email to the Beta Center Support wondering if their server was down, or if I had done something incorrect. I also sent a copy of the email to Robert Mull. After a day I got a response back stating they need to check my account. I gave them all the information to do so, and to my surprise they responded very quickly with a rejection response stating that I do not meet the system requirements to enter closed beta. Now my computer is less than a 6 month old Dual Core Pent. 2.8 GHz, 2 gigs memory, 7600 Nivida Geforce OC. I have played everything at High Graphic with no problem, and now I win a contest and Im rejected due to system requirements that they havent even announced yet. Why have a contest for closed beta and have people win and not let them in? This is a beta test after all! If Im correct, this is a chance to try the game out, test it, and fix and tweak it. So why would one only allow people with very high end computers to test a game that will most likely have over 600,000 people playing it with system specs close to mine better or worse?

I want people to read this and see that being a dedicated fan and follower does not mean anything to EA-Mythic, nor does winning their contests mean you will win anything at all. Im sorry to say, but I am very upset that during the event no one mentioned that, even if you win, you may still not get in. I even personally spoke to Robert Mull and told the crowd that this was a beta key to get into closed beta, not open beta, and not once mentioned that there were system requirements that had to be met, or that even if you win you may not get in.

From what I understand the Closed Beta right now runs only at maximun settings. There is no slider or interface for reducing it. So they are only testing right now on computers with very high system specs. You know the kind that can run Crysis at full settings with no problems kind of PCs.

Last is right. I'm not in beta testing but they don't add graphic sliders untill open beta I would think. My guild is invited to the guild beta phase but I already know that I can't go because my system is just too weak at the moment.

And FYI they are designing the game around the Warhammer IP so to say that they don't care about the fans is BS. They practicaly had to beg to create a healer class for chaos AND the dark elves and from what I understand most everything else is dead on as far as story and detail goes.

And Thank god they haven't released yet because the game isn't done yet. they are taking their time to make the best possible game they can. I as well as many many others commend them for that.

Now stop crying and act like a man.

You guys hit on something here. System reqs? My son and I are VERY interested in preordering the CE, but will not do it unless we know if at least one of our PCs can run the thing. And no we can't run Crysis. Anyone have targeted system req links to look at?

I understand that this cause disappointment. BUT you have to understand that there are sys reqs. Peroid. Now we can discuss why they haven't told you. Probably they assume that a fanboy should ask or in a closed beta have the best equip possible? I don't know, but agree with Last. Still the reqs are on.

And btw it doesn't matter when you bought but what. The7600 Nvidia series was already outdated 6 month ago - even using SLI.

wow that just bites man.. I could see how you would feel burnt after getting your hopes crushed. I would say that if you look at it through Mythics eyes that this is a "customer product test" I think you were more in line of looking at this as a golden ticket for game you were excited for. They aren't going to say what the sys req they screen for because you would increase the amount of false dxdiag files . You definitely got rejected because of your OS or Graphic Card. I would say fake your dxdiag and tell them you just upgraded (+vista +8800) . That's what I would do :)

btw the closed beta is running at the lowest settings with no lighting or shader system in place. Don't know were you heard "the highest" that doesn't make sense for any game to start off at the highest and cause your testers to lag out.

Yeah, what Lost said is correct. The closed beta is currently running at top specs only, if you don't have dual video cards and around 4GB of RAM, you'll gonna lag through even and it won't even be fun. Much like WoW did, the graphic sliders will have a huge impact, but that's something that needs to go in last, after the engine is perfected for launch. (And I can't remember, but it may require DX10 right now. I have it anyway, but I've yet to meet anyone playing on XP so far)

It sucks that you won and can't use it, but not much you can do about it.

Then there must be something wrong because I definitely do not have an uber computer and I got in the beta this last round. My processor is a dual core 2.2 GHz, only have 2GB of RAM, and I have a single Radeon X1650 512 MB for my graphics card. I had won a contest so I thought they'd only let me in due to that. /shrug

The game runs fine btw. Get a few little glitches here and there, but nothing major.

settings arent on maximum, they are puted around medium-low. 2gb rams 2ghz cpu and x1600 is enough to play

I was reading in another Warhammer forum where players were having problems putting their codes in. Turns out that there was a problem with the emails, and that they had left a single letter out of the code. They were resent and those players were able to get in. Also someone said to wait two days and try it again. I have no idea personally, but I have a new custom rig with the latest in technology and even after I resent my new dxdiag stats I still have not received a beta invite.
