What are we doing?

To stop some confusion, and to keep people updated on what's going on, here are our currently plans:

Under Development

  • Full World of Warcraft database. Including drop rates, AH pricing, and character profiles. Expected release is Jan 14th
  • Video hosting. Completely free video streaming. Expected release is n/a
  • Importing old private messages. These were overlooked as we didn't see the importance. We will be importing these soon
  • Importing any files missed that are marked as having "no mirrors"
  • Importing the rest of the download counts from the old website
  • Forums/News/Etc easily browsable for any game, not just portals.
  • More functionality for the projects hosting.
  • Forum search will be changed to allow searching of thread titles by default, and only searching within posts as an option

In Concept

  • Reputation system. This is our kill-all solution to moderation. Giving all control to the users. More will come on this later :)
  • Awards. These are based on the reputation and are not physical rewards, but little things to show off how much you contribute on the website.
  • Group/Guild hosting. We will be offering a complete hosting solution for groups [including clans and guilds]. Expected mid ~~2008~~ 2007 [New Year's is messing me up]

Whats New

  • Projects now have fully moderated plug-in support. Project owners must approve a file before it is listed on it's plug-in's tab.
  • Projects can now change ownership
  • RSS feeds for various sections of the forums, as well as file comments. More are coming :)

January 8 2007

  • The new comments system is nearly complete. We have pushed live the new ratings and reporting systems, as well as some basic (temporary) paging.
  • Wiki bugs have been fixed for the recent changes (author), restore/move functions, and templates.
  • We have begun work on the game specific sections for the www. portal. Some of the changes have been pushed live allowing you to view links, general information, and articles per-game.
  • A new quick search box has been added up top as well as on several pages to make finding content you want easier.
  • Projects have had a few bugs fixed, and are now dubbed "Downloads". Bugs include localized descriptions, plugin submission, and minor other fixes including changes to how download counters are updated. We have also added filetype icons to the downloads for easy visability.
  • The image gallery has had some of its new features added, which visually, are simply share boxes to post the code on Curse and other sites.
  • Recent comments have been added to several sections, including the main downloads page, the image gallery, and the World of Warcraft database. You can also view recent comments to your projects in your Account home (we will expand on this in the future).
  • Several account bugs have been fixed with registration and lost password recovery.
  • A few RSS feeds have been updated.
  • There is now a report, and remove from favorites button on file pages, as well as a few other quick links available.
  • Development on the World of Warcraft database continues! Watch the site for update information in the coming days.
  • External links on the website will now have warnings displayed when trying to visit them for the users safety. This requires a JavaScript enabled browser.
  • News for games will now be prefixed (new news only) with the topic, whether it be a Game, Company, or otherwise.

February 8 2007

  • You will now gain reputation for adding/removing friends. All users reputation has been adjusted accordingly.
  • Download counts no longer track monthly. Daily and Total is all that will be recorded.
  • A new atlas is live for Vanguard, check it out in the database section. There will be a HUGE revamp to this soon so stay tuned.
  • Character profiles have been progressing. You can now view your submitted characters (currently, only Vanguard is public, WoW is still internal) and select to show them or not. All things, including WoW, will and are tracked using the Curse Client.
  • Vanguard profiles are live. Currently only the adventuring panel is showing while we work out some kinks, and your defense and damage values do not show.
