New Curse Client 3.0.0.8 does not work
I wonder what the common connection is, because it works fine on all 3 of my boxes. Vista Ultimate x64 SP2, Vista Home x86 SP2 and XP Pro x86 SP3. Still where the hell is curse on this if so many people are having problems... At least some confirmation they noticed its messed up.

Hello all,

I'm looking into this right now trying to determine what could be causing this.

Curse Client 3.0.0.8 issue summary:

The two top errors appear to be:
"Client will not start" and "The updater ran with invalid arguments."

Problem scope:
* Vista and XP, 32/64-bit, 2008 server I do not see any Windows 7 report.
* Premium and non-premium
* Updating automatically and manual update, even with reinstall

I've tested the 3.0.0.8 client under:
* Local dev machine - vista 64-bit
* Test machine - XP 32 bit
* Test machine - Vista 64-bit
* Test machine - Windows 7 build 7100

All worked as expected. I did notice the updater lagged a little before doing the update, but it went through for each.

It would help if users experiencing this problem could post the tail end of the CurseClient.log file (usually under something like /users/<username>/appdata/local/CurseClient/CurseClient.log) which may contain errors to help track down this issue.

I'm having the exact same problem with Windows 7 64-bit RC1 (Build 7100).

Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [CoreManager] Starting client.
Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] Vista detected.
Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [UAC] nTokenElevationTypeLimited - User has a split token, but the process is not running elevated.
Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Utility] Closing handle.
Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] Process elevation tested...
Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] Process is not elevated, but it does not appear to need elevation to function.
Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] App started.

It was at this point the Curse Client did not start, and every time I try to start it after that, it only says:

Tue Jul 07 17:16:05 2009> [CoreManager] Starting client.

Once for each time I've tried to start the Curse Client.

Hi guys, we're going to be allowing people to roll back to 3.0.0.7 until we have a patch.  Any information you can provide about the issues would be much appreciated, and we apologize for any problems experienced.

Report this thread post

We appreciate the feedback,

However it would greatly help if users experiencing this problem could post the tail end of their CurseClient.log file (usually under something like /users/<username>/appdata/local/CurseClient/CurseClient.log) which may contain errors to help track down this issue.

At this point we know there is an error, but very little about specifics. Log file information would greatly help

The whole path depends on the username you created/login to your computer with. Please try navigating to your users folder, then username, then appdata/local/CurseClient

So if your login to your local computer was DEEPBLUELIGHT, then your path would likely be:

(drive)/users/DEEPBLUELIGHT/appdata/local/CurseClient/CurseClient.log
