I am an absolute novice with pc games of any type but my partner is an addict of WOW so i thought if you cant beat em, join em. I have set up a Paladin and have reached level 13 with the Quest helper addon (marvellous) but i still struggle with what spells etc to cast and when.

I have also started a Hunter, level 3 at the moment.

Being a complete novice, does anyone have any suggestions as to which would be easier for me to learn/handle/cope with?

The game is very simple at low levels, and even when you've got a friend who's been helping you (or atleast set up Questhelper for you..).

It's pretty much right click your target, push your attacking spells whenever they are ready, bingo. Orders and to use one spell to benefit another is something that comes at a higher level, and you'll understand the game alot more at that time.

Same thing with your hunter, when it reaches level 10 you can tame a pet to take all damage for you, you will learn a spell called Mend Pet healing your pet.

Send pet in, shoot arrows from range, use what shots you've learned to far, when the target is dead, use Mend Pet and continue to the next target, should be easy enough.

My advice to you as a novice: Play the game, get used to it. :)

Also, read your spells. Paladins have lots of spells that are more useful when another spell is up.  So if Spell1 is on the target, Spell2 does more damage, in the simplest of terms.  The best way to get to know the game though is to play it.  You can also read WoWWiki for lots of useful information.

Hi again, well after reading up alot today on various forums giving information and help and of course everyone offering info here too, i started a new Hunter, im on level 6 already and im loving it...it's 11pm UK time now and im having to drag myself off the laptop. :-)

Just an update.....level 11, got my pet, having loads of fun with my Hunter.....

You're already ahead of the game so to speak as far as I am concerned. I was around 35 before I started using addons. So much wasted time. No doubt it was fun but it was frustrating as hell at points too.
