That's because it's not intended to be a search page. It was a compromise that had to be made.
Think of it like Google. It finds what you want, but it doesn't let you sort the pages by how popular they are, or when they were last updated, etc.. It's just not something that is easily doable with an accurate searching system like that.

Please please please PLEASE change it back to the previous way! This engine is nothing like Google; On Google I can actually find what I'm looking for. I tried typing in 'color' like I did in the past to find the 'RS_ClassColors' addon and where was it? First page? No... Second? Try the SEVENTH page for a mod in which the word 'color' is actually in the name! This is what you call accurate? There were six other pages of which most had nothing to do with 'color' at all! Oh, and guess how many results came up when I typed 'classcolor'. One--for the WRONG MOD. This new search engine seriously sucks and I have no idea who actually finds it useful because I sure don't. The previous version was great for discovering new mods but this one... You might as well browse randomly because it'll take you the same amount of time to find anything.

I appreciate the work that goes into finding/making new search engine capabilites; however, it would be nice to be able to search the add-ons' names again, not including UI packs.

I appreciate how much work it takes to get a decent search algorythm working having created a few myself in the past, but bear in mind guys our beloved curse is under constant development - as soon as they can make a more accurate search system that doesn't cause the servers to fall over I'm sure they will :)

I have always been a supporter of curse because it has always stood out as the most useful hosting site... that is no longer the case, and you are making my hobby of finding mods for myself and other people harder and not fun.
I can no longer find mods on this site unless I do a google search of your domain... how stupid is that?
I already hate UI.worldofwar and WoWI just doesn't have the database you guys do...
please, switch the search/sort function back... it just makes more sense... I don't see this "trade-off" you're talking about.

I'd have to agree. I don't know all the technical reasons behind this recent chance... But all the previous features were very useful. Perhaps you could make some sort of "Advance Search" option to compensate for the loss of these features?

If all else fails you can always rely on google - just include "curse" in your search terms and 99 times out of 100 the first result is a link to the addon on curse :)

absolutely your solution works... but i shouldn't HAVE to do that. I come to this site for functionality and selection. If they hinder functionality, then the selection will move somewhere else.

In the same way, the curse coders shouldn't HAVE to modify their site to suit your needs. There's a lot of overhead in code to search DBs like that and personally I'd rather have a fast running curse even if it means I have to resort to google once in a while.

Yeah, how does "Make Search completely useless" constitute a compromise?

Use the generic search box at the very top of the site then (the grey box) - I've found that to be much more forgiving.
