Well, I installed cartographer a while ago, and now with WOTLK I notice that I can't see Wintergrasp's zone map with Cartographer installed. I unninstalled it and it worked fine then, but then I reinstalled and I couldn't see it again. Can anyone help me?
Thank you.

Everytime you update an addon, you must remove the old verison of it fom your Addons folder, and then place the new one in. Did you do this?

Not true... I have only totally uninstalled one addon and that was due to a major update and the suthor made it very clear to do so.... You almost never need to remove the old addon. Unless you are having issues just install right on top. Now the Cartographer issue is a known issue and try updating either manually or via the Curse client. No need to remove the old version unless the author specifically requires it.

Well, I install addons using Curse Client most times, and it works fine. This version of Cartographer is just screwing my map up :S

So if you disable Cartographer and nothing else your maps work fine? If so it may be another addon not playing nice with Cart. It may be trying to do the same thing on top of each other. If you can list your addons we may be able to eliminate and point you in the right direction.

Is there any problem with this addons, does anything conflict with Cartographer? And I know that Davidjohn but I prefer disabling cartographer's waypoints and using TomTom instead.
Please help me guys!

Are you using any Cartographer plugins that aren't distributed with the Cartographer package? If so, make sure you check to see if the have been updated.

So if you disabled all of the addons listed your map works fine? Do you have that funky Cartographer3 or the better ;) Cartographer. They are two seperate versions taht are being developed independently of each other. Cart3 is not an updated Cart but a different addon (same developer).

No, I only need to disable Cartographer so the maps work fine.

And this is Cartographer and not Cartographer3 (which I have had isssues with)? How about if only Cartographer is running and all other addons are disabled.
What I'm trying to determine is if it is more than one addon not playing nice toghether. If all else fails you can do an uninstall but I have never had to do that no matter how bad an addon is screwed up.
If you absolutely have to uninstall it is more than just deleting the addon folder (it starts with that) you will need to remove all the saved variables that are associated with that addon. The easiest and most complete method is to navigate to the WTF folder and do a search in the WTF folder. You need to make sure that the 'search subfolders' is checked. You search for the addon name: "Cartog" should be enough. You should get only 2 files, one a .lua and the other a .lua.bak just delete both. Now you have uninstalled that addon. The reason that you delete all the saved variable is if you caused the problem with a setting then it will not be duplicated upon reinstall.
Please keep us informed if this issue is resolved :) GL

Sorry for the TRIPLE post, but I logged off, happy that cartographer worked, and now I logged in again, and I can't see Wintergrasp's zone map again... :S So, I closed the game and deleted those .lua and .lua.bak files again, and I can see Wintergrasp's zone map again. It's odd, I don't wanna be deleting the .lua and .lua.bak files every time I log in :S

Quadruple post, sorry but is the best way to bump this up. I discovered the reason why Wintergrasp doesn't appear in the map. There's some sort of Transparency problem with wintergrasp, when I go to the Look N' Feel options and set the Transparency to 0, Wintergrasp disappears. I think I'll need to contact the addon author to fix this issue.

Ok so let me ask this first. Do you have the foglight option enabled? If ynot all you will see is a somewhat blank map because you have not explored the area yet. This is the correct behavior and you can try either enabling or disabling the setting.

Well questhelper was working fine for me.
Then when i went to my friends house.
I got on and it didn't show the arrow showing me where to go.
So i went home, thinking it was just his computer.
But when i got home it still wasn't working.
So i uninstalled the curse client and the questhelper addon.
Then i reinstalled everything.
But still questhelper doesn't work.
It doesn't even show up in the curse client.
So some help please?

What about creating your own thread and not spamming anyone else's one? Did you think about that?

I think you're not understanding, what I mean is if I set Cartographer's transparency to 0, and I'm seeing Wintergrasp's map, it's transparent, I mean if I open it in Wintergrasp' with transparency 0 I can still see my character because there's nothing there. Can you please contact the addon author about this transparency bug in Cartographer? I tried, but AbydosLanti won't answer me :S

I guess I am not understanding. Sorry, I can not contact the author since I am not the one having issues and could not be available to answer questions.
One last thing to try if you have no joy otherwise. DO ONLY AS A LAST RESORT. Rename your WTF and Interface folders to anything you like. Then run the repair.exe in the WoW installation forlder. This will reset everything back to the default. You will lose all your keybindings and such. Then install Cartographer ONLY and log in and see the results. If you are still having issues then you will need to reinstall WoW from scratch. If it works properly you can then install all you addons one by one and see when the problem occurs again. You then know where the issue lies. If the problem still presists with ONLY Cartographer installed then just delete the new WTF and Interface folders and rename the original ones back to what they were. You will have your game back to where you were before you started but with the problem still there. GL to you.

Thank you for all the help, but I'll take some printscreens of the game so you see the difference I think it's easier to do.
This is Cartographer and Cartographer options open in Wintergrasp's zone map with the Transparency option ( inside the Look 'n' Feel options ) set to 100% :
![]()

This is what happens when the Transparency option is set to 0% ( still seeing Wintergrasp' map ), yeah it may seem like not but cartographer is open and you can see it :

And this is what it should look like with transparency set to 0% ( this is the map of The Storm Peaks, random, just so you can see how it should look like ) :

See, this was the bug I was speaking off. This is why I want to contact the author but I can't :S

Meh, seems like it really is an addon bug and not an install bug. Doobyman can you try contacting AbydosLanti please? Maybe he/she answers you.

It is not a bug with the addon itself since my version (current) works like a champ.
Did you try any of what I suggested?

I know my map of Wintergrasp works fine, with C2. Mind you, I had issues with Cart after the 3.02 patch, so I:
1. deleted my old Cart & Cart plugins folders in \addons
2. removed every mention of anything Cart-based from my WTF folder
3. installed the latest version of Cart, plugins, and some of the ones I missed which have not been updated
4. restored my backed up _mining, _fishing_ and _herbalism savedvariables to the WTF folder
Everything works, tyvm.
