Curse Author Rewards Program
The author rewards program is a way for Curse to provide incentives for addon authors to keep developing and maintaing compelling addons. Under the Curse Author Rewards Program, eligible addon authors will receive points on a monthly basis, which can be redeemed for prizes. To learn more about the program, please continue reading!
How does Curse Premium contribute to the program?
Curse is excited to announce that a portion of the revenues of its premium service program will directly fund the Curse Author Rewards program.
Who is eligible to participate in the program?
Any active author who signs up for the program is eligible to receive the rewards. Authors must be active; that is, they must keep their addons up to date and maintained. Authors of projects that Curse determines are abandoned, out of date, or otherwise non-functional will not be eligible for rewards. Additionally, library authors will receive points for their work as well.
How does Curse distribute points?
While we won’t reveal exactly how points are calculated, it is related to addon popularity. Addon authors receive points based on a calculation by our algorithm. Points will be distributed on a daily basis. Library authors receive points based on the popularity of addons that utilize libraries only.
I am part of a project with multiple authors. How will Curse distribute points in my case?
The project manager will receive all of the addon’s points. The project manager can distribute points to the other authors based on his/her discretion.
What can authors do with the points?
We will have a page on Curseforge.com and Wowace.com where authors can redeem their points for prizes. These prizes will be updated on a periodic basis. Here is a list of examples of prizes:
- Gift Cards to major retail stores and online retailers, such as Amazon.com
- Game time cards
We hope to expand on the author rewards program in the future. One possibility is to provide bonuses, in which authors would receive extra points for doing certain activities, such as helping to moderate the author community sites, Curseforge.com and Wowace.com. Another possibility is to help promote new addons by rewarding the most popular addon each month with a small point bonus on the Curse.com addons page. We have a several other ideas too that he hope to be able to implement someday soon. If you have any ideas, please let us know!
