Job Description
Job Title: Staff AccountantReports to: Senior Accounting Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Finance and Administration
Location: San Francisco
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for directly assisting the senior accounting manager in day-to-day accounting procedures, month-end close and ad hoc projects as necessary. The main focus of this position will be to assist with A/P, A/R and the month-end close, though there will also be requests for financial analysis and filing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recording bills and invoices into Quickbooks, maintaining customer and vendor details
- Preparing payments via check, ACH or wire transfer and ensuring adequate documentation
- Preparing bank reconciliations and revenue recognition spreadsheets
- Verifying expense reports and underlying receipts, ensuring accordance with policies
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll submission and part-time employee hour tracking
- Maintain fixed assets database
- Assist with development and implementation of accounting procedures
- Actively assist on the monthly closing and reporting
- Corresponding and following-up with customer and vendor questions
- Filing of invoices, bills and other paperwork daily
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
SKILLS:
- Good knowledge of Quickbooks and proficiency in the MS software suite
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to apply learned theory to practice
- Oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Conscientious of both stated and implied deadlines
- Customer and vendor relations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BA or AA degree with emphasis in finance or accounting
- Basic understanding of GAAP
- Have begun, or interested in beginning, progression towards CPA certification
- Interest in MMOs and gaming is a plus
