About Urban Special Forces (Default and Hero Modes)

Note

There are now two versions of the map you can download, one for Default mode, and one for Hero mode. In Hero mode you start out with one of 6 heroes from the campaign that level up as you and your allies kill enemies.

  • IMPORTANT: From this point on, the versions I upload here will not work correctly if you upload them to battle.net. This isn't something I wanted, but I can't make offline and battle.net versions in the same map without causing many problems. If you need the battle.net version (to upload on a different region, etc.) just ask and I'll send it to you, or if you're on Battle.net US, you can download it off of there. I don't want to upload 3 versions here every time I update. That would just confuse people anyway.

No timed enemy upgrades, much more upgrades, new Urban map. Armor/Weapon/Health upgrades can go up to level 100 and cost 500 minerals each. Special upgrades typically also cost 1 vespene gas, gotten by conquering areas of the map.

A lot of people had various problems with the direction my last Special Forces map went, so I'm hoping this one will fix some of their problems with it. It's not meant to be exactly like the other version, as not everyone likes the same thing from a map.

v0.39

  • Reduced file size.
  • Made hero skills and their non-hero counterparts cast-able without switching between subgroups or using different control groups.
  • Fixed multiple bugs.

v0.38

  • Fixed a couple bugs I added in the last version. Sorry!
  • Possibly reduced lag a bit by reducing the frequency of triggers firing and other trigger modifications.

v0.37

  • Increased last boss difficulty significantly on Normal/Hard, and slightly on easy.
  • Heroes revive at the second spawn point once you've reached it.

v0.35

  • Fixed Hero Revive error.

v0.34

  • New Hero Mode, currently playable as a separate map solo. I'm uploading both to sc2mapster.com.
  • Units in an area stop spawning once you kill the boss building for that area.
  • Possibly other changes, a few things didn't get written down but most of the new stuff relates to the new mode.

v0.33

  • Ghost base and upgraded energy regeneration increased.
  • Mineral gather rate and mineral node capacity increased.
  • Health regeneration from health upgrades applies to bunkers/photon cannons.
  • Mothership boss does large bonus damage to structures.
  • Various small bug fixes/balance changes.

v0.29

  • Fixed bunker cost.
  • Adjusted easy difficulty.

v0.28

  • Kill rewards increase with enemy difficulty.
  • More buildings made invulnerable until Boss for that area is killed.
  • Defeat condition added: No units and less than 500 minerals.
  • A couple typo fixes and bug fixes.

v0.27

  • Fixed Temporary Detection hotkey (was the same as decloak)
  • Fixed EMP ability name.

v0.26

  • Removed some test units I forgot in the last version.

v0.25

  • Added a basic income sharing system (everyone except the killing player gets a bonus of 50% of the kill reward when an enemy unit is killed).

v0.23

  • Reduced DT upgraded damage.

Strange... I just tested it again to be sure but it's opening fine for me in both versions. Are you running it by dragging the map onto the SC2 shortcut? That's how I usually start it. Any details you can give me would be useful.

Either there's something wrong with the map or there's something wrong with Starcraft 2, but sometimes (way too often) the trigger that's supposed to remove the obstacles doesn't go off, and the obstacles remain there, blocking the way to the next area. Loading a prior savegame doesn't seem to matter - the obstacles remain.

Played this map for hours regardless, 'twas refreshingly fun.

Was this in solo or multiplayer mode? Also was it only the obstacles to the first area? Or did you have trouble with later obstacles as well? I'm glad you had fun anyway, some of these bugs are really hard to track down.

I also have the same error. I have played the map using the test document from the map editor. I played solo in default mode. And when i clear area 1, even after the game tells me the next area is unlocked, the obstacles on the bridge are still invulnerable.

Solo. Not just the first area, had every obstacle fail once or more. Restarted the map after trying to load a savegame few times, a save before killing the bosses / destroying the key building(s). Wish I knew what else to say.

I had the same thing happen. The obstacle will not go away after I beat the first level. I had a lot of fun playing it so I hope this can be fixed somehow.
