One of the most important rules of Game Design is: If players are looking for ways to circumvent game mechanics, they are telling you that those mechanics are not fun for them.  It really is that simple.

The people who are going to use this mod are people who are not having fun with the default lock-picking mechanic of the game.  If you are already having fun picking locks, odds are that you won't like this mod.  If you are not having fun picking locks, you may prefer this mod.

Am I the only one who finds the name of this mod ironic?

It's called Lockpick PRO, but it's basically a cheat. It should be called "Lockpick NOOB"

Lockpicking to me, is a nuisance, this mod just gets it over with, so I can continue on my journey.

Considering how crappy the mouse controls are right now, this mod is a godsend. Thanks!

  • #14

wow.. nice, i took bunch of quick loads to get through master door with 4 key smtimes, like 15 mins or so, lol.

I downloaded this hoping it wasn't what it is: Cheat Central.

I was hoping for like, a sort of tracking, because I attempt master level locks a lot at like 25 lockpicking skill, and I'd like to record "Your lockpick, before it broke and reset position, went 90% in right at this spot".

But it just ended up being a "GG next" mod. Again, some people may hate lockpicking, but I find it fun. Challenges in any way are fun. Frustration like being one pixel away from sweetspot on a master lock, and having your pick break, and then more break while you guess where you were again, not fun.

    Just my two cents.

    Re: Lockpick Workaround

I agree with HolyLiaison. Might as well just use the console command if you hate lockpicking so much. I think this mod is just to help you cope with the fact that you're cheating. Man up and use the console! :b

How about making it less accurate so you still have to work for it but it gives you a clue as to where the sweet spot is.

  • #16

That's one of the perks you get for high lockpicking skill, actually. You will START the pick in a spot that is on the 'close' side of the pick.

Would be nice without the cheating. I like being able to see lock pick health, thats nice.

Fun of lockpicking?? Where?? Got me bored after the 3rd lock. Thanks for this!

  • #17

If you don't like lockpicking, then go do the thieves guild quests and just keep the skeleton key instead of returning it to the proper spot. Unbreakable lock-pick without needing to get 100 skill to get the perk for it.

  • #8

I agree. There is nothing fun about lockpicking. Thanks for the awesome mod.

this is why i dont mods in rpg's. This mod effectively makes lockpicking a grind because it's reduced to "meh another lock to pick, click, done, that was boring"

    UI enhancers? fine.

    Character remodeling? cool.

    Game-mechanics breaking mod? No ty.

"this is why i dont mods in rpg's"

dude, morrowind with no fog of war, awesome textures and lighting, and tons of really well written quests? Awesome-o. This mod seems like a bore, but dude, modding 4 lyfe!

(I also assume that once Obsidian gets it's hands on this game they'll make it (even more) worth while by MODDING it to give you, well, where to begin? Dialoge-options? Alternation that isn't completely useless (I used it to jump and levitate, waterwalk, etc, not blarghing self-buffs :(  ), a menu system that works, hotkeys, etc.)

I got spam from Curse and found this post (something about a free SWTOR beta-key), and I can't help but love that of the few mods that have come there's TWO naked-female-skin mods :D
