Aion has been out in North America for over a year and a half now, and NCsoft today has announced a service players have been requesting for some time.
Paid character transfers are finally coming to Aion. While the studio has offered transfers in the past, it's only been for specific servers, limiting the options for players on where they can go -- if they could transfer at all.
But as of April 27, 2011 that changes with the introduction of the paid service. Details are sparse right now, though the team promises to share more information as the date draws near. Expect a FAQ and more general info on how the system works soon.
For now, mark down April 27 as the date when you can begin transferring your characters in some capacity, for $24.99.
