NCSoft and Carbine are on hand here at PAX Prime 2011 in Seattle, WA showing off their upcoming MMORPG WildStar. The game is being developed by Carbine Studios and is slated for a release sometime soon; though NCSoft didn’t have a set-in-stone date for release or beta.
We had a chance to sit down and play WildStar for a little bit on the show floor at PAX and were definitely impressed by the game and excited to get more time with it.
WildStar completely sets itself apart from other MMORPGs in a host of ways. One of the ways that stood out most to us during out playable demo and presentation was the choices and paths that players can take.
In WildStar, players choose a career path from Explorer, Scientist, Soldier or Settler. Your objectives and playstyle will be different, depending on your selection. For example, Soldiers are rewarded for conquering hordes of enemies, Explorers will need to climb mountains and explore hidden caves, Scientists are rewarded for uncovering the secrets of the Eldan race and Settlers will make a new home in the extraordinary world of WildStar.

Carbine has built a really engaging story in WildStar that continues past the level cap, providing hours of entertainment and fun, fueled by the games Momentum Mechanics. "Players do not simply quest or fight a monster – they stake their claim on the world in a manner of their choosing and are rewarded for making bold advances towards packs of enemies. Storylines, mini-challenges, surprise events and a reactive world all layer on top of each other to create an immersive experience that rewards players for playing the way they want to play."
