Pirate-Themed Assassin's Creed Confirmed Next in Series

Ubisoft has confirmed rumors that the next game in the beloved Assassin's Creed series will have a pirate theme, announcing Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. In a recent Facebook post, the company posted the box art below, stating:

We will be announcing all the details of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag on Monday March 4 at 6pm CET. Stay tuned for more.

We'll be sure to clue readers in with more details as soon as they're known. For now, all that's known is the game will be coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC, with PS3 players getting 60 minutes more of exclusive gameplay. No word has been heard about whether or not we'll see ACIV on the PS4.

It is likely that the main protagonist in IV will be Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway and grandfather of protagonist Connor Kenway from ACIII. The plot could tie directly in with some quest plot we see in ACIII concerning Haytham's upbringing and his father's occasional piracy (read more here if you don't mind spoilers).

We're looking forward to Monday's announcement -- stay tuned!
