Crytek has shown up in force in Cologne, Germany for Gamescom 2012, bringing Prophet and Crysis 3 in tow. The game looks beautiful as you have likely come to expect from Crytek and CryEngine 3, but it's great to see just the same.
In the screenshot gallery, we get a chance to see a great environmental shot, showing some of the desolate beauty that Crytek has mastered over the course of the last two Crysis games. When we spoke with Crytek's Hasit Zala on Crysis 2, he spoke about how the team coined the term 'Catastrophic Beauty' in Crysis 2. This describes the feeling of Crysis 2, where you'll have buildings collapsed in on itself and yet it's oddly beautiful.
In Crysis 3, you get the same feeling but in a slightly different way. The desolate feeling of some of these Crysis 3 screenshots is almost depressing, but you can't help but be awed by how gorgeous an overgrown New York City can actually be.
We also get a good glimpse at some CELL soldiers in the screenshots, so give them a look over at FPS General!
