Just a quick and friendly reminder that the 16th annual D.I.C.E. Awards will be taking place tomorrow night, February 7th, 2013, at 7:30 PM PT. The event is going to be hosted by Chris Hardwick, who will be making his first appearance at the event.
The Academy of Arts & Sciences, the folks who host the D.I.C.E. Summit ever year, have been promoting the 16th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards thorugh a series of incredibly cool videos. The original video was a live-action re-enactment of some Assassin's Creed III action, showing a real-life Connor tearing it up on the battlefield with the tagline, 'Heroes Will Rise.' That very same tagline returned in the second teaser, which featured an incredible Borderlands 2 shootout. All of these promos were produced in partnership with Noodlehaus.
The nominations are looking pretty great and really attests to the amazing year 2012 was for gaming. Titles like Journey, Borderlands 2, The Walking Dead, Far Cry 3, Halo 4 and Dishonored taking multiple nominations in an array of categories. We can't wait to see who takes home these honors, particularly in the Oustanding Achievement in Game Direction category that features some absolutely stunning games, including; Journey, Dishonored, Far Cry 3, The Unfinished Swan and The Walking Dead. Tough competition.
We're also eager to see how Chris Hardwick, host of The Nerdist on BBC America, does at his first DICE Awards hosting gig. The event has long been hosted by Jay Mohr so we're curious what this change will bring to the event. For his part, Hardwick seems pretty excited about the event, saying that, "The D.I.C.E. Awards are VERY important to me. I have been playing video games since there were video games. I hope there is some type of Dovahkiin Shout that will make sure I don't mess this up. I will find one!
If not, I'll just look like a psychotic, screaming a**hole leading up to the Awards."
We're sure you'll do fine, Chris. At any rate, we'll be watching and you should too! Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/user/machinimalive tomorrow night!
