The D.I.C.E. Summit brings together bright minds, and recognizes the year's best video and computer games, online entertainment, and the outstanding individuals and development teams that have propelled the advancement of the entertainment software industry. 2014 is here, and with that comes the next Summit!
Today's exciting announcement from the AIAS concerns the 17th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards hosts: Co-hosting this year will be Felicia Day and Freddie Wong.
“The D.I.C.E. week is about The New Golden Age, and Felicia and Freddie’s respective work very much reflects this theme as they have become true trailblazers in the expanding world of web-based video. They are a perfect fit for the stage as they are gamers at heart who will not only entertain, but also celebrate and honor our industry’s game makers and creative visionaries,” said Martin Rae, president, Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
Indeed, Freddie Wong is best known for being a pioneer in online video, with premium content both on his YouTube channel and in the form of his flagship series Video Game High School. He's now the #1 most subscribed video director on YouTube, having racked up over 900 million views since April 2010.
Felicia Day is known to many for her appearances in numerous mainstream television shows and films, including Supernatural and Eureka. She also created and starred in the hit web series The Guild, which received high critical acclaim and several awards for web video excellence. The brand has expanded into numerous merchandizing opportunities, including a hit comic book series with Dark Horse Comics. Her production company Knights of Good produced the innovative web series Dragon Age in conjunction with EA/Bioware in 2011 and she later co-founded a digital entertainment network called Geek & Sundry. Since launching in April of 2012, its YouTube channel has garnered more than 800,000 subscribers and more than 75 million views.
