The Curse Dota 2 Invitational sponsored by Alienware finished up over the weekend, bringing us through the Grand Finals and crowning the winner.
In a series of events spanning three weekends, eight teams faced off in a double-elimination bracket for a whopping $10,000 prize pool. Here's what happened this final weekend:
Winner's Bracket Finals
With the departure of NaVi from the tournament, dignitas moved up to the winners bracket to face Team Liquid in the winner's bracket finals. Team Liquid was given a 1-game advantage because they had remained in the winner's bracket the entire event, and they took the first game to win 2-0.
Lower Bracket Finals
In the lower bracket finals, dignitas once again faced off against RoX.KIS. After a game 1 that ended in under 20 min, RoX.KIS seemed to be on the ropes. A long day of playing in other events seemed to be taking its toll; however RoX.KIS came out in game 2 with an incredibly strong performance, dominating the majority of the game and looking to take things to game 3.
Unfortunately for them, a couple of late mistakes lead to one of the most intense base races of the event, with dignitas barely squeaking out a game 2 win to take the series 2-0.
Team Liquid now faced digintas again in the Grand Finals. Once again they received a 1 game advantage for coming through the winner's bracket, but dignitas came out of the gate strong. Game 1 was long and hard-fought, but Team Liquid showed their incredible power to close out games and took the first game off dignitas.
In the second game Team Liquid came out fighting, and despite dignitas' best efforts to equalize the game, Team Liquid did not give up the lead and ended the tournament with a great final team fight.
