The voting for the next EverQuest progression server, set to launch in March of this year, has come and gone. The winner, by a fairly impressive margin, is “Fippy Darkpaw.” And so the next in the line of progression servers — which have proven to be very popular in the past — will be named after the infamous Qeynos-harassing gnoll Fippy Darkpaw.
“Fippy Darkpaw” pulled in 38% of player votes, with the second closest being “Vulak`Aerr” at 21%. The new progression server, as mentioned previously, will operate a bit differently than past progression servers like The Combine and The Sleeper.
Rather than expansions unlocking as players complete the content within a given progression era, they’ll become available on a time-based unlock mechanism. And while the timeframes between expansion unlocks has not been shared with the playerbase yet, it’s probably safe to say that SOE wants to keep players locked-in for quite a while on Fippy Darkpaw.
