EverQuest Not Affected By SOE Layoffs

Last week, Sony Online Entertainment went through what was more than likely its largest round of layoffs and studio closings, with more than 200 employees being let go and three studios closed. Last night, EverQuest's producer -- Thom Terrazas -- sent out his latest community letter to let everyone know how this affects EverQuest.

The good news for EverQuest players is that it looks like this doesn't have any impact on the game. In fact, Terrazas explains that the team plans to bring more content through live patches than they ever have in the past.

While they only just recently introduced new events related to April Fool's, the team has more on the way to fill voids that they've noticed over the years. "In reviewing our accomplishments over the past couple of years, we've noticed some content voids in the spring and summer months that needed filling," he wrote.

One of the biggest goals for the EverQuest team this year -- aside from no doubt working on another expansion pack -- is to 'beef-up' the content the team publishes after an expansion launches. This will mean more events for players to take part in.

On the expansion side of things, we can probably expect an announcement related to that at this year's SOE Fan Faire. We'll keep a close eye out for that to see if we can bring you any information before July.
