Far Cry 3 is definitely going to be one of 2012's big first-person shooters and the more we see, the more we're looking forward to checking it out in person.
Today brings our very first look at Far Cry 3's multiplayer game modes, courtesy of VG247 who had some hands-on time with the pre-alpha build of the game. Far Cry 3 definitely has a Call of Duty feel to it, but with the tremendous success of that franchise (and the sheer volume of time that we've invested into it), that isn't a bad thing. In the video above we get a look at some of the neat features that set Far Cry 3 apart and get us excited to take the game online with our friends. During a match, players can activate a special power (done by pressing in both analog sticks on console) to give everyone in their vicinity a temporary buff. Players earn XP for doing this, encouraging teamwork and cooperation - a must for any online multiplayer game. We also get a chance to see some air support being called in, which looks to have the homebrewed flavor of the island, fitting with the overall theme of the game.
Action looks fast paced and the weapons already seem to feel great for a pre-alpha build; we can't wait to see how it looks when it launches later this year. For more information on Far Cry 3, you can visit http://far-cry.ubi.com/!
