Deep Silver has announced that players who enjoyed the original Dead Island will be able to import their characters and continue their progress when Dead Island Riptide launches next year.
Dead Island Riptide is not a sequel, or so says Deep Silver, but rather a continuation of the story or a spin-off. Consumer would likely argue that the inevitable $59.99 price tag means sequel. At any rate, the game takes place in a new location. The same area, but a brand new island - still overrun by zombies, of course.
Players will be able to import their character information from Dead Island, as the original cast of characters will be returning in Dead Island Riptide. Additionally, Deep Silver has announced a new dynamic weather system that will change the way you interact with the game world.
The new weather system can even result in flooding which can end up with your character having to board a small boat and navigate through the zombie-infested river. Players will also have to reinforce and fortify bases in the game, but details were not available on how that works.
