ArenaNet has some fun planned for us! A teaser trailer and details have been released telling us all about plans for Guild Wars 2's very first Halloween celebration:
500 years ago, a tyrannical Krytan king was slain by his own people, those who had suffered greatly during his reign of lunacy. It is said that this king’s body was chopped into pieces, and his spirit was banished to the Underworld, but that he can return to the mortal realm for just one day a year: on Halloween.
Of course, that’s just an old folktale. Isn’t it?
It’s been 250 years since the last alleged sighting of Mad King Thorn’s spirit, and today, Halloween is safely celebrated by children (and merchants) all across Tyria.
But! Strange energies are rising under the autumn moon. Is there perhaps some truth to the old stories? Do you dare to find out what’s really going on?
The events are staggered in four secret acts, running from October 22 until November 1, but the Black Lion Trading Company has some good news:
- Oct. 22 - Nov. 5: Buyable at the Gem Store are costumes with spooky skills, tonics to transform into ghouls and ghosts, creepy minis, and free devil horns!
- Oct. 23 - Nov. 5: Black Lion Chests will have a chance to contain one of six exclusive Halloween-themed weapon skins
In addition, a diorama contest running until Monday, October 22nd will give players a chance to score some serious loot from SteelSeries, NVIDIA, and in-game. Some screenshots and concept art, as well as future information about the acts themselves can be found at the official Halloween event page.
