Flagship acknowledges player concerns

In an interesting move, Flagship have acknowledged many concerns with the subscription system and in game bugs and issues in a post on the Hellgate London forums.

The post, made by Lead CM Kaiser, went on to list a number of problems that players of Hellgate are familiar with and states the flagship and Ping0 will work to fix these issues as soon as possible.

Dear Customers,

We realize many of you are experiencing a variety of problems. We at Flagship and Ping0 are working hard to address these issues.

Our current top priorities are:

  • Resolving any remaining problems related to billing and subscriptions.
  • Fixing two known bugs which cause players to sometimes lose items (one related to dual focus/dual melee, and one related to loading issues).
  • Making improvements to memory usage in order to reduce "Memory Exhausted" crashes.
  • Fixing a known issue with the user interface which causes the application to lock up intermittently.* An issue which occasionally prevents characters from being able to load or switch instances.
  • General chat interface improvements. (Many improvements are in the works).
  • Random disconnects and lag.
  • Allowing higher resolution textures and models for other players.
  • Various known problems with being able to continue interrupted side quests.
  • Remnant quest items not getting destroyed and "clogging" up inventory.
  • Continued problems with saving / loading Engineer Drone items.
  • Invisible party members.
  • The nanoforge not correctly improving rare and better armors.
  • Getting stuck on collision.

Some of these are issues which will be fixed as soon as possible and go live in upcoming patches, some will be in our upcoming content patch, and others are issues on which we will make gradual improvements to on a continuous basis.

Of course we also have a more extensive bug list as well as lot of gene.

    Hi All,

Unfortunately a lot of us have got bored with WoW game, since if you do not raid or PvP there is not much you can do anymore. Creating another character (this would be my seventh) and undertaking the same old quests is just plain boring. Blizzard releases expansion packs that have a certain amount of quests and once complete, then game is boring.
Maybe Blizzard should look at providing an update that focuses on questing and keepng those type of players amused instead of another expansion with more dungeons/pvp and set number of quests which once completed, you have little to do. Less then 3% of the raiding population actually visited Naxx before BC.

Anyway Hellgate London has its bugs but if you understand testing of any kind, you will know that you can never replicate real life situations until it is released. Great example is the pharmaceutical industry were drugs are tested in 1000's of people but because of the regulatory requirements and cost of development, you can never fully understand the saftey profile of a drug, until it hits the market. Only thing companies and regulatory agencies can do is test the drug and ensure that clear cut safety issues are addressed during development. Also ensure safey data is being colleceted on regularly basis from the marketplace.
Unfortunately average joe does not understand the software testing process and because WoW is of high quality now, other companies should come out with same quality, unfortunately if that was going to happen, you would never have a new game MMO on the market because of the intial costs to undertake such extensive testing.

let's stop bashing Flagship Studios and ensure we understand the process in developing and implmentating a new game before we engage our fingers to type.

ASP: you are right you compete with what's therenow but you can not provide a bug free product and if you ask Blizzard developers, ther will admit, I am right. Blizzard have an edge on all the next generation MMO because it has been in real life use for several years and so there have extensive knowledge on how to fix issues. Ican't wait for Warhammer to be released and when te same issuesarise, you probably knock that product.

Revel313 keep blowing your horn, you are right, it is cool product ad i can see a great future for Hellgate London.

you seem to forget that memory leaks are varying from player to player, i myself have NEVER had any memory leaks, while people with more memory than me and such are crashing all the time.

that is why they cant fix this right away.

and wow was far from being an exceptional game at launch, it was pretty much like Hellgate is now, i remember shamans pretty much fucking every class back then...

When you release a MMO into the market you compete with what is there right now not really with what used to be there. This is what drives the quality of the MMO's up. If you want to enter the MMO space you need to have a very strong and polished game now since the MMO genre has existed long enough to have competition that have polished titles.

Yeah it makes the barrier to enter higher but it's all beneficial to the players. Looking at the market it also growing rapidly and Blizzard showed what the rewards could be like if you have a solid title. World of Warcraft is more than just the classes and numbers on the spells. It's a rich environment with a rich background and in my opinion it has character.

Hellgate looks cool enough but in my opinion they aren't even competing. They are in different market segments.

Well, having a 1 minute cooldown on shapeshifting isnt gamebreaking. Its just a lack of understanding of their own game. The same thing goes for caster itemization preBWL. Even inside BWL it was just the random items that were worth anything, the t2 sets were really BAD compared to melee counterparts.

I dont really play Hellgate either, however I agree with all the points ive seen and Im just tired of people randomly bashing wow.

I'm kind of surprised (although I shouldn't be) that so many people are comparing Hellgate to a game like WoW who has had relentless work done constantly on it over it's lifespan.

When WoW first came, it seems so many people forget what kind of game it was. I'm not going to go in depth but if you look back at patch notes or anything you'll get refreshed that the game had some pretty odd things in the game like one minute cool down on shape shifting for druids for example.

I don't care if you don't play the game, I'm just sick of seeing the same bad argument's against a cool new game that I think really has a great future.

I couldn't believe the number of very serious bugs that remained in the beta right up to launch. I kept thinking every day they'd surely be fixing the crashing, getting stuck, permanent talent choices that "just didn't work right now" and losing extremely rare items after logging out bugs. Then it got to the point where even if they did release a fix, the product had to have already gone gold to make it to store shelves (meaning there'd be zero testing of the fixes), and then the game launched and these issues STILL exist.

$60 for a game with those kinds of issues, where you're not even sure how much support you're going to get even if you pay the $10/month on top of that? pass... And there's still no in-game economy, inspecting other players or linking items... "WTS legendary firefox launcher with 2 fuel mod slots, 3 rocket mod slots, but I have a +10% ignite mod in one of them already and a +24% to spectrals in another, 1 tech mod slot with a +12% fire damage mod installed, weapon does 40-70 damage and 15-20 dps in the fire field, gives +24% stun bonus, +5% range and grants Marksman +1, in addition to two added properties of +10% damage to Nekros and +18% against Beasts... PST?" vs. Shift-Click.

wow was at least an exceptional game from the beginning. hellgate: london is at best average.

and every damn developer that just released his product to the market better damn well claim to fix a crash, not "improve on the issue".

  • #8

I'm not sure what you expect them to say. No one in their right mind is going to guarantee that a memory leak problem will be fixed in the next patch or patches.

  • #9

And WoW isn't doing / hasn't done the exact same thing? K.

  • #10

how about not releasing a completely bugged and at best average diablo sci-fi clone?

"Making improvements to memory usage in order to reduce "Memory Exhausted" crashes." -> they are not aiming to FIX this asap? LOL!

"General chat interface improvements. (Many improvements are in the works)." -> hey paying customers, thx for the extended paid beta!

this is so friggin ridiculous and i'm so happy i had the chance to play the beta BEFORE it went live!
