For anyone interested in Hellgate: London, there's an article that was released recently which gives details on "Patch 0", otherwise known as the release content patch. The NDA has also been lifted, so players can share their thoughts on the game and the experience they've had with it thus far.
Now on to the details everyone is curious about: Patch 0! Hellgate's DX10 engine is ready for release, and should be optimized quite a bit when the game launches on Halloween. Included in this beefier engine are soft shadows, depth-of-field, motion blur, interactive GPU-simulated fluid smoke, texture-array animated rain, and soft particles. In laymen's terms, this means the DX10 version of Hellgate: London is going to look really pretty, and should reach the same framerates as the older DX9 engine, if not higher.
For general content, players can expect tons of new additions to the Multiplayer portion of the game. Buddy Lists, Guild affiliation improvements, and Buddy and Guild chat channels are all coming for the social aspect. Nightmare mode is going to be bigger and scarier than before as well, with larger levels being introduced so that players can spend more time in one Nightmare Mode area.
The free-for-all PvP option is being introduced, allowing players to opt-in and become a PvP target at any given time, with the game's new PvP mode. Dueling will still remain in the game, but will be of a more consensual nature.
PvE content is also getting some love; level and monster progression will be more thematic, gossip is being added to a number of NPCs in the game to add more flavor, additional quest information offered from NPCs, and more.
Thinking about subscribing to the monthly payment plan? There are lots of cool features available to players that do, including Elite Mode - an optional mode that increases the difficulty of demons in each level. There's also Hardcore Mode; if you think you're the ultimate badass then this will be interesting to you: a game mode with no resurrection options. Take the risk of perma-death and be the first to max-level with bragging rights about how good you are!
There are also themed events and items in the works, including a Halloween event that will run from October 31st to November 4th. Your special Zombot pet will surely love you for taking part, and you'll love yourself too with the All Hallow's Visage and All Hallow's Treats!
Rounding out the subscriber benefits are the ability to create guilds, achievements, additional character slots beyond what a basic account is allowed and larger storage for your bank, allowing you to hoard even more items than previously possible.
Head over to the Patch 0 Details article to find out more about what's in store for Hellgate: London on launch.
