The next big patch coming to Heroes of Newerth since the Empath was introduced looks to include a new announcer pack, the third to be made available in the Goblin Store. This one is voiced by Jon St. John, the man behind the legendary Duke Nukem. Well, his voice anyway.
The announcer pack is being added this Friday, February 18, we've been told. The Heroes of Newerth team will be revealing some of the lines in the announcer pack on Facebook, but Mr. St. John was just too excited to keep it a secret any longer.
Announcer packs replace the default announcer completely, in many cases adding new phrases for the traditional words. These include an announcement for the first kill in a match, kill streaks, and more.
The first two came along with 2.0's release: the Flamboyant pack and the MsPudding pack. The former was a bit controversial, while the latter is fairly popular because of who voiced it: S2 Games' support manager, who goes by the same name on the forums. She's been a player favorite since kicking off the YouTube hero spotlight series along with S2Nigma.
But this is about Duke, baby. And his voice is hitting Heroes of Newerth this week.
