Curse, Inc and Gunnar Optiks partnered up to spend some time reviewing Gunnar's latest gaming eyewear designs. The model in question was the Gunnar PPK with Amber lens tint although for the video review, we were using a pair of Phenom Graphite Gunnars. We've put together both a video review which can be viewed above, as well as some user feedback below to give readers an idea of what Gunnar is offering and how we felt they helped us out during our time using the glasses.
Initially, when we received the Gunnars, we were looking forward to seeing if there was a noticeable change using a pair of gaming glasses. We tend to spend a lot of time in front of the PC at Curse, whether its gaming or working on great new content for our readers. After too long in front of the monitor or TV, we can really feel the eye strain and were looking forward to checking out how Gunnar relieves some of that strain and curious if we'd play any better as well.

We used the Gunnars primarily during sessions of RIFT, Red Orchestra 2 and League of Legends to try and get a feel for different genres. We experienced a noticeable relief in eye strain and a lot more yellow than normal. The yellow took about two minutes to get accustomed to and afterwards, we came to enjoy it. The tint seemed to equalize all of the colors of the game and our real world surroundings, like the casing on a monitor or the walls behind it that are seen in our peripheral vision. Everything outside of the game was dulled a bit and this made the game/monitor itself easier on the eyes.
Something we really liked is the way Gunnar has carefully crafted the glasses to coexist with virtually any gaming headset. We used a rather bulky gaming headset from Razer and never felt like the glasses were in the way or that any cables were getting snagged on the frames.
Some of the features that Gunnar touts for their glasses include:
- Enhanced detail for sharper, clearer vision
- Increased visual endurance
- Reduced glare and visual noise
- Decreased eye fatigue
- Provides contrast for greater visual efficiency
Gunnar also offers customers a 100% guarantee on quality for 30 days and nearly all models can be custom designed to your prescription should you use prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses.
