Every Thursday, Valve updated the Defense of the Ancients beta. The updates may be simple bugfixes or Valve might bring some new functionality to the game. This week, the team introduced a brand new character in the Juggernaut.
"Today’s update is undoubtedly the most important update we’ll ever ship, because it adds Juggernaut. It could contain absolutely nothing else, and it’d still be the greatest update, but it also contains various fixes and additional features. In particular, we’re still improving the matchmaking system, now that we’re getting a lot of great feedback (and data!) from all the matches being played."
In related news, the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) has announced some DOTA 2 information for their event, as well. The ESWC "organizing committee is glad to announce a major change for the Dota tournament. Dota teams attending the ESWC 2011 Grand Final will play on Dota 2 made available thanks to Valve...In order to put all teams qualified in the best conditions of equity and training, Valve will provide to each ESWC Dota players a Dota 2 key in order to access to the closed beta and practice the game before the event. Few keys will be also offered to privileged ESWC's spectators during raffle on the event."
