We've had the opportunity to get in touch with Ed Del Castillo, Cofounder and President of Liquid Entertainment, to discuss goals and aims for Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of Neverwinter on Facebook.
Heroes of Neverwinter is bringing the world, lore and mechanics of D&D to Facebook in the form of an engaging RPG. Character creation and outfitting, multiplayer adventuring and exploration, and dungeon building are offered for player enjoyment.
The grand aim of the game is to "give the D&D experience back to the player digitally," says Del Castillo.
According to Del Castillo, the point of introducing Heroes of Neverwinter on Facebook is to give players a version of D&D that is not limited to location. No downloads are required so you can easily play whether you are on a business trip, at home, or with friends.
"We're trying to extend the paper game experience into a place where players can take it with them wherever they go and have a quicker experience every time they play." Faith to the core game is very important to the company; as many of the rule sets as possible will be included as the game expands while keeping it understandable and short.
With the official launch, gameplay will not change for users who are currently playing. Stability is constantly being worked on and subtle changes and tweaks will be made, but nothing major. "I want people to know that their characters are going to persist and expand, and maybe even move onto other platforms," Del Castillo says, "I want people invested."
With such excitement behind the development of the game, we expect great things in the future from Heroes of Neverwinter. Head over to http://www.facebook.com/HeroesOfNeverwinter to play the beta today, and be sure to check out the official Twitter at http://twitter.com/heroesofnw
