Digital TV Programming Coming to Xbox 360

Microsoft has announced this morning that they will be bringing digital television programming to the Xbox 360 home gaming console as a part of their initiative to provide all of our favorite entertainment in one central location; Xbox Live.

The team has already integrated an amazing ESPN application as well as Zune for music streaming and Netflix for streaming movies, as well as a ton of other great entertainment options outside of gaming. This latest entertainment integration is sure to launch Xbox Live ahead of the competition as there are no other gaming consoles offering so much content in one package.

“Today’s announcement is a major step toward realizing our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “Combining the world’s leading TV and entertainment providers with the power of Kinect for Xbox 360* and the intelligence of Bing voice search will make TV and entertainment more personal, social and effortless.”

So far, there are a plethora of first-rate content providers that have been confirmed to be coming to Xbox Live via one of the over forty service providers that Microsoft is working with. Some of the big names include Bravo, Comcast, HBO GO, Verizon FiOS and Syfy in the United States.

These offerings are scheduled to be made available on Xbox Live later this year, in time for the Holiday season and will require a subscription to the various providers as well as an Xbox Live Gold subscription. More information can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/!
