The Hall of Abyss is now live on Ragnarok Online servers, giving players the chance to partake in an economic battle for control in an event that kicks off today.
Castle Investments will be available for a short period of time per game date, and total investments will be updated every five hours. Cat-Hand agents will be scattered throughout the castle to collect funds.
Players can invest the minimum of 10,000 zeny (the in-game currency of Ragnarok Online) up to a maximum of 2,000,000 zeny. Each realm ([Valkyrie Realm], [Balder Realm], [Britoniah Realm], and [Luina Realm]) will have their individual totals tallied separately, so guilds compete among known enemies to hold control of the new coveted territory.
"Players will now compete rigorously to own the Hall of Abyss, even temporarily, but in this war might doesn’t make right," said Jason Heimdallr Koerperich, Ragnarok Online Producer at Gravity Interactive. "Instead, the War of Emperium will be an economic battle, where the highest bidders will lay claim to the new zone!"
Once owned, the Hall of Abyss contains both solo and group content aimed at those level 135+! The investing and dungeon access schedule is as follows:
- WoE 1.0 Wednesday 3-5
- Investment Period Wednesday 5:30pm-Saturday 5:00pm
- Abyss Gate access begins at Saturday 5:30pm
- WoE 1.0 Saturday 3-5
- Investment Period Saturday 5:30pm-Tuesday 5:00pm
- Abyss Gate access begins at Tuesday 2:30pm
Guild Dungeon Access: The guild dungeon has a new second level added on, that can be opened up as described above. It has tougher monsters waiting within, with bigger rewards. If a realm successfully opens up their local Hall of Abyss, the first two levels of guild dungeon in that realm opens up for anyone to enter for a fee.
For each 10,000z that is invested, players receive 1 Investment Ticket and random gifts. The tickets received can be used to purchase supplies from Special Vending machines on the realm map. Players that aren't affiliated with a castle-holding guild can invest by speaking with Cat-hand agents in each realm.
Released in 2002 by Gravity, Ragnarök Online has been one of those MMORPGs that keep a lot of gamers coming back consistently due to the pure fun and calculative nature of its play. Divided into a series of maps, players exist in a fast-paced fantasy world with massive amounts of character customization to quell the forces of baddies sprinkled throughout the RO universe.
