Trion Worlds and Valve today revealed one of the strangest cross-promotions I've ever seen. But if you dig Team Fortress 2 then you'll certainly love it. Anyone who pre-orders RIFT on Steam by March 1, 2011 will receive two exclusive melee weapons in Team Fortress 2: Sharpened Volcano Fragment is for the Pyro, while the Scout gets Sun-on-a-stick.
In addition to that, Valve is adding a special achievement to Team Fortress 2. Called "Riftwalker," completing it will give you a code to redeem in RIFT. Doing so will get you the Well Spun Hat, a cosmetic head slot item.
Players will begin receiving their weapons in Team Fortress 2 starting today, while the Well Spun Hat can be redeemed starting with the RIFT headstart on February 24, 2011.
