Brave the dangers of Telara on the new Swift Ember Steed, available exclusively through Ascend-A-Friend.
Imagine for a moment, sitting atop the frozen peaks of Iron Pine. Out of nowhere an air rift opens, unleashing denizens from the Plane of Air to ravage the land. 'Egads! Where is Tommy when I need him?', you think. But Tommy is watching Michael Scott's last episode, rather than defending Telara alongside you. Much to your dismay he decided to hold off on RIFT, leaving you as the only guardian capable of defying the elements. But now he has no excuse. Tommy can be there with you.
Trion Worlds today revealed two new services to ease players into RIFT, as well as reward those already playing. A new 7-day free trial allows anyone looking to try out the game full access, for an entire week, with no cost involved. If you decide to stick around, all you need to do is purchase a full version of the game and you can continue on your merry way.
To go along with this, Trion has also introduced the new Ascend-A-Friend program. Ascend-A-Friend allows existing players to recruit their friends, providing unique rewards for doing so. Capable of giving out an unlimited number of 7-day passes, current players will be able to unlock special rewards for recruiting certain numbers of new players.
For each friend you recruit via the Ascend-A-Friend program, you'll unlock special rewards. It starts with just one friend, granting you 'Courage,' a canine companion. Once you've Ascended your second friend you'll be able to don the glorious Trailblazer Hat and become the envy of your peers. For Ascending a third friend you'll receive an equine unlike any other. Wreathed in flame, the Swift Ember Steed mount is sure to invoke jealousy in all you come across. Additionally, each friend you Ascend will automatically be added to your Friends List, and you'll both gain the ability to summon each other once every 30 minutes.
Coinciding with RIFT 1.2, the largest update to the game so far, this is the perfect time to bring your friends into Telara. The patch not only introduces new 10-player content, but also a major new feature that enables social sharing via Facebook, wardrobes, and an entirely new type of 10-player content: “Slivers.” By using the new Omen and Quantum sight abilities, Guardians and Defiants will be able to detect the entrance to RIFT’s first Sliver – the Gilded Prophecy
