A few weeks ago it was discovered--and later confirmed by Trion Worlds--that addons are coming to RIFT. While it doesn’t look like the functionality will make it into the next patch for RIFT, we wanted to ensure that when addon functionality does go live that we’re able to fully support it.
With that in mind we’re pleased to announce that Curse now supports RIFT addons here on Curse.com and on our addon developer platform CurseForge. We are finalizing integration with the Curse Client and will be releasing a patch to implement that support soon.
As a reminder, addons will not be coming to RIFT with patch 1.3. For the time being, they will only work on the Public Test Shard.
We make all addons available in the client also available on Curse.com and have created a RIFT addons section. You’ll be able to search for addons, browse by category, see new addons updated recently, all-new addons fresh on the site, and even create addon packs.
We’re continually improving the delivery and discovery of addons on Curse.com, ensuring the best possible experience when downloading and installing your addons manually. You’ll be able to download at lightning fast speeds, and even check out comments on the addon page--seeing feedback from other users like you.
With CurseForge we’ve created a one-stop resource and platform for addon developers. If you’ve found yourself interested in creating addons for RIFT, CurseForge is all you’ll need to get started. Whether you’re looking to develop something small-scale, or RIFT’s first “QuestHelper,” CurseForge is the development platform you’re looking for.
Addons uploaded to CurseForge can be flagged with various development stages, including Alpha, Beta and Release. Once you’re comfortable with releasing your addon, it will be automatically synced with Curse.com--making it available there without any additional work on your end.
Coming Soon: The Curse Client
The Curse Client is our premiere download application that allows you to bypass the browser entirely when looking for new addons or updates to those you already have installed. The client will automatically detect your RIFT installation and set everything up so you can quickly download and install your addons, getting you into the game quicker than any other option.
The Curse Client is also enhanced by Curse Premium, enabling multiple addon updates at once, faster addon downloads, automatic addon updates, and of course no advertisements in the client or on Curse.com and supported websites within the Curse brand.
One of the best features the Curse Client with Curse Premium offers is Addon Sync, allowing you to create profiles on the Curse.com server. This profile stores the addons you’ve installed, allowing you to sync your addon installations across multiple computers.
We’re currently targeting early next week to release an update to the Curse Client including RIFT addon support. We invite you to download the Curse Client in advance of this so you’re ready to go when the support is added.
