Last month, Trion Worlds released the Ashes of History content update for their popular MMO Rift.
The content update brought a ton of really great new features including an increased level cap, 1- or 2-player Rift Chronicles, the Library of Runemasters for PvP, Veteran Rewards for longtime Telarans and so much more, but this is just the latest in a string of updates that Trion Worlds has been releasing.
If you got pulled away from Rift early on in the games history, you might be missing out on a ton of really cool updates that the team has put together over the last six months or so. Here's a look at some of our favorite updates since the games inception.
Video Capture
Players in Rift are able to record a video clip, up to 3:00 in length. The client is even able to natively upload your clip to a YouTube account, should you decide to assign it one. This makes creating Rift montages and machinima as easy as 1, 2 - well, Trion World made it so easy there really isn't a step 3. Just record, upload and you're good to go! Maybe that's even how this video came to be?
Slivers
Telara's universe, as you well may know, is "comprised of a myriad of planes and realities that all intersect with each other and with Telara at seemingly random angles and times." Slivers, then, are places in the universe "where a thin slice of another reality can be seen intersecting with Telara". Some of these intersections play home to a previous planar conflict that may or may not have been resolved already. It is up to the player, then, to right these other realities or to protect our reality from their negative influcence. Players only need Quantum Sight or Omen Sight, depending on your allegiance, to view these Slivers.

By using these powers are players able to find special raid instances, including the fabled Gilded Prophecy or Drowned Halls.
Wardrobe
In Rift v1.2, Trion introduced Wardrobe Slots. Everyone likes to make their character look precisely a certain way. Whether you're outfitting your Rogue class in Leather gear or kitting out your Warrior in Armor, players are able to get that started from Level 1. Wardrobe sets are also fully purchaseable, so you can visit various vendors throughout the game and get set up with totally new outfits.
There are so many awesome wardrobe opportunities depending on your class and including Plate, Chain, Leather and Cloth. There are a host of options available to customize the way your character looks.
Riftconnect
In this day and age, it's a challenge to find someone not connected on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube or any other of the more popular social networks. The enormous popularity of these social sites is not lost on Trion Worlds, and they have included native integration with these services right into the game client via Riftconnect.
Riftconnect is a really awesome tool for sharing your information, particularly if you are a regular social network junkie. Typing the command "/blast" will send your in-game message directly to your social network of choice. Using "/blastpic" will allow you to caption a screenshot and send it to your various friends via whichever networks you sync.
There are so many more amazin features that have been added over the last six months, it would take pages to discuss them all. The easiest thing to do is jump back into the game, if you have an account. If not, then there has never been a better time to enter Telara. Trion has a free 14-day trial going for Rift, where you can "adventure in the world of Telara as either a noble Guardian or technomagical Defiant and enter a dynamic fantasy where 8 primal forces battle for control in an ever-changing landscape." Visit http://www.riftgame.com/ for more information on that.
We also definitely recommend visiting Telarapedia, the premiere resource for Rift fans on all things Rift and Telara. Visit Telarapedia at http://telarapedia.com/!
